In short

Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread Main Store is a potato bread bakery café on Haksapyeong-gil in Sokcho, Gangwon. After tasting a sample slice at Sokcho Jungang Market, the writer came to the main store and packed a 4-pack of Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread at 10,000 won plus a 12-pack Sokcho Jjondeugi set at 10,000 won, then shared three boxes with coworkers and family, who finished everything in two days. Hello, it's Doeun, writing on a day that's literally on fire with heat. So I went on a trip to Gangwon-do, and guess what — my parents didn't bring home any potato bread! So I had no choice but to track down the best potato bread place myself and feed my parents, family, and coworkers. This is the spot I found, and with nearly 3,000 reviews already, isn't that basically proof it's a certified hit?

From a free sample at Sokcho Jungang Market to the Haksapyeong main store

Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread is the bread I first met as a sample piece at Sokcho Jungang Market (Central Market). The Haksapyeong-gil main store is right on the way home, so it's an easy stop. Actually, before heading there, I'd parked near Sokcho Jungang Market and was walking down when someone kept saying "try a piece as you go by" — so I did, and that was it!!!!! Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread!!!! I only had a bite, but I couldn't stop thinking about it. The market location is takeout-only, but the main store has a café attached, so you can sit and eat there too!

There's tons of parking around, and there seemed to be a lot of cars coming in for good restaurants nearby too. You could eat a meal there, then swing by Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread for bread and a drink to help digest — sounds like a plan, right?

The exterior is decorated with what I guess you'd call spray-paint style art — really cute! Also, unlike what Naver Maps shows, it's actually open until 17:00, so keep that in mind~~~~

Seating and the Muskia drawing activity at Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread

Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread Main Store has spacious seating, and you can also try the Muskia drawing experience for ₩10,000 each. Can you tell it has that cozy, out-of-town café vibe?

You can also do the Muskia drawing experience, which seems perfect for kids to enjoy, and it makes a nice souvenir for adults too! ₩10,000 per piece.

The seating is spacious and comfortable, so it's a good spot any time. I visited after lunch on a weekday and there was still plenty of open seating~~

There's outdoor seating too, though it's probably still too hot for that right now — maybe come September it'll be cool enough to be nice.

Potato bread prices, the 3-box discount and shipping: what does it cost?

Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread is ₩10,000 for a 4-pack (₩2,500 each), and it drops to ₩9,000 for a 4-pack when you buy 3 boxes or more. Here's what the menu looks like and how you can sample it. That's real confidence — offering samples means they're sure you'll buy once you taste it. Correct.

It looks like jjondeugi only comes in squid flavor, and there's a nice variety of organic drinks too~

So for one box it's ₩10,000 for 4 (₩2,500 each), but for 3+ boxes it drops to ₩9,000 per 4-pack — so basically if you buy 3 boxes and grab a coffee, that's a pretty great deal, right? Also, the person ahead of me in line seemed to be buying some to take to their office! If you're not eating it the same day, frozen versions are available for purchase, and shipping is an option too, so keep that in mind.

They mix squid ink into the dough, which gives it that striking dark color — the nutritional angle is nice, but honestly, it's just really tasty...

The chewy texture reminds me of ggaechal bread (sesame chewy bread), and the mashed potato filling inside is a bit like a soboru (crumble topping)? I guess that's the best way to describe it — it's got a genuinely great potato flavor that works really well. Feels like something kids or office workers could eat with milk in the morning as a simple meal replacement.

I tried heating it in the microwave for 20 seconds, and instead of that soboru-like texture, you get a denser, richer potato aroma and flavor — enjoy it either way depending on your preference!!

How 3 boxes went down with coworkers and family

I bought 3 boxes of Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread and shared it with coworkers and family, and it was completely gone within two days. I brought home 3 boxes, handed them out at work, and family members ate a piece or two here and there — and by day two, all gone. It's the kind of taste that makes you think of it again after eating it. Somehow it feels like a familiar flavor, and yet I keep craving it again ㅠㅠ Come to "Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread Main Store," grab your vacation souvenirs right there, and enjoy the pleasure of sharing them~~
