Seocho coffee shop for New York levain cookies and milk tea: Mini Male

Today I want to introduce a café near Gyodae Station where you can enjoy great coffee and dessert together. There are so many cafés around Gyodae Station, but it's surprisingly tricky to find one where the coffee itself is actually good.

This time I visited a place that apparently has two branches near Gyodae Station. Let's go check out Mini Male Roastery & Coffee Bar Seocho Gyodae Branch, where I went to try the nutty Helsinki Latte and some cookies!

Where is Mini Male Roastery Seocho Gyodae Branch, and what are its hours?

Mini Male Roastery & Coffee Bar Seocho Gyodae Branch is a 4-minute walk from Gyodae Station Exit 7. Go straight for 50m, turn left into the alley, and head up the hill — it's just inside the main road, across from Kkanbu Chicken.

Mini Male Roastery & Coffee Bar Seocho Gyodae Branch is conveniently located near Gyodae Station. It's a good spot to stop by after a meal around Gyodae Station, or to rest for a bit near the courthouse.

One fun detail was that there's an ordering kiosk set up outside the store as well. Usually you go inside a café, look at the menu, and order — but being able to order from outside seemed really convenient for a quick takeout coffee during busy hours.

With great accessibility from Gyodae Station and the chance to enjoy coffee and dessert together, this seemed like a spot that would catch the eye of anyone looking for a café in the area.

What are the seats and dessert case like inside Mini Male?

Seating at Mini Male Roastery & Coffee Bar Seocho Gyodae Branch is mostly made up of 2- and 4-person tables. Once you step inside, there's a kiosk indoors too, so you can order comfortably.

It's a good layout both for sitting alone with a coffee and for chatting with a friend or coworker.

I especially liked that the desserts are displayed on trays, so you can look them over before ordering. Being a roastery café, the space also had a real professional coffee feel to it. Apparently they have a large-scale roaster on site, which should appeal even more to coffee lovers.

Overall it didn't feel like an over-decorated space, but more like a café where you can settle in comfortably and focus on the coffee and dessert.

What we ordered that day were the signature Helsinki Latte, milk tea, and handmade New York cookies. Since I love coffee, I got the signature Helsinki Latte, while my friend who came along ordered the milk tea.

How does the Helsinki Latte taste?

Since the Helsinki Latte is the signature menu, I was really curious what it would taste like. I'm usually a latte person.. so one sip and I can tell right away if a place is the real deal!!

And the Helsinki Latte... now I get why it's the signature. From the very first sip, it was so nutty and rich. It wasn't just a soft latte with a ton of milk — you could taste both the coffee's own flavor and the thick texture of the milk together. It felt like freshly pulled espresso meeting the density of rich milk.

The espresso's deep flavor stayed intact instead of getting drowned in the milk, while the milk gently wrapped around the coffee's bitterness. I'm someone who finds it a bit disappointing when the milk ratio is so high that the coffee flavor fades, but the Helsinki Latte had a clear coffee presence. That said, the coffee wasn't overly bitter or too strong, so it wasn't overwhelming either.

Maybe it's because they have a large-scale roaster, but it definitely felt different from the latte you'd get at a typical café. The coffee's own flavor was so distinct that each sip felt more and more like something from a proper roastery café. Personally, the Helsinki Latte was the most satisfying menu item that day.

New York cookies: original levain vs. matcha chocolate chip levain

We also tried the handmade New York cookies. When you order coffee at a café, it's common to pair it with bread or cake, and this time we chose the New York cookies. The cookie's characteristically heavy, rich flavor went well with the coffee.

Eating it alongside the nutty Helsinki Latte in particular, the cookie's sweetness blended naturally with the coffee.

The original levain (levain, a thick chewy cookie) is great for a classic pairing with coffee, while the matcha chocolate chip levain will especially suit anyone who likes the combination of matcha and chocolate. Sip of coffee, bite of cookie, then back to the latte again — the coffee's nutty flavor and the cookie's sweetness blended so well that I kept reaching for more.

So for anyone looking for Seocho café dessert options that go well with coffee rather than just looking pretty, I think this is a solid choice.

The milk tea a non-coffee-drinking friend chose

Next up is the milk tea. If you don't drink coffee, the milk tea seems like a good choice. Pairing a soft milk tea with a cookie would make for a sweet way to take a break.

Milk tea has that distinctive perfume-like taste, right? (not an insult, promise). I'm not a fan when that perfume note is too strong, but here it was just right — I liked it!!

Is Mini Male Seocho worth a visit? Final verdict

Mini Male Roastery & Coffee Bar Seocho Gyodae Branch was a great café to visit when you want to properly enjoy good coffee alongside dessert. In particular, maybe because they have a large-scale roaster, the Helsinki Latte I had that day was really impressive.

The flavor of freshly pulled espresso meeting rich milk gave a nutty yet deep taste. I really felt how different it is from coffee made at home, haha. If you're looking for a great Seocho café dessert spot, I highly recommend Mini Male Roastery & Coffee Bar Seocho Gyodae Branch.
