Gyeongju Bomun-danji café with a self-serve warming oven: Yard

Let me tell you about the café that stuck with me most on this Gyeongju trip. It's a place where you can really feel the atmosphere of fall in Gyeongju — Yard, a café in the Bomun-danji area. Yellow cosmos were in full bloom in front of the café, making for a beautiful flower field. Being able to have coffee and enjoy the autumn flowers at the same time made this the perfect stop on our trip.

Parking and seating at Yard: the 2nd floor is a no-kids zone

Yard has a dedicated parking lot in front of the building, so we could park for free. Parking is always a bit of a worry when traveling, so having a lot right there made it easy for a family visit too.

The exterior was clean and had such a nice atmosphere that I was taking photos before I even walked in.

Both the 1st and 2nd floors are available, and the 2nd floor in particular had a gorgeous view straight out over the flower field.

The interior was done in a white-and-wood combo, so it felt clean but warm at the same time. The overall space felt relaxed and roomy, with a calm mood that made it great for sitting down with a coffee, and every corner was decorated in a way that made for good photos. That said, the 2nd floor is a no-kids zone, so our family used the 1st floor. 😊 haha

What we ordered and how the self-service oven works

At Yard we ordered an iced café latte (₩6,000), an iced milk tea (₩6,500), a chocolate pretzel (₩4,500), and a croissant (₩4,000).

There were cakes on the menu too, but we went with the bakery items our kid picked out, haha. The self-service bar had an oven set up so you could warm the bakery items.

I tried it myself — about 3 minutes in the oven and the bread came out warm and even tastier. Water, cups, and napkins were all set up at the self-service bar too, so it was easy to use.

Tasting the latte, milk tea, pretzel and croissant at Yard

My husband's iced café latte had a rich, nutty coffee flavor :)

The balance of smooth milk and coffee was great, and it paired well with the bread too.

The subtle black tea aroma blended nicely with the nutty milk flavor. I'm managing my caffeine while pregnant, but there was no giving up milk tea — this one was satisfying. 😊

The chocolate pretzel had bits of chocolate scattered throughout, giving it a sweet, chewy texture I liked.

Our kid ate it up happily, and it was an easy, tasty bakery item that adults could enjoy without any complaints either. The croissant was full of that soft, flaky feel, haha — a solid, classic flavor.

It really is one of the breads that pairs best with coffee — even more delicious eaten together with the latte.

A walk through the yellow cosmos field in front of Yard

In front of Yard there's a flower field of about 1,000 pyeong!

After enjoying the coffee and bread, we headed out to the flower field in front of Yard. 🥹👍

The yellow cosmos were in full bloom, giving off that distinct autumn feeling — it was really beautiful. The bright cosmos against the blue sky made it such a great spot for photos.

We took some sweet photos with our kid, haha. We also got a family photo in front of the flower field, making a great memory from our Gyeongju trip. 😊 The yellow cosmos are expected to stay in full bloom until October 15, so if you time your visit right, you can enjoy both the pretty flower field and Yard together.

• If you want to enjoy an aesthetic café in Bomun-danji, Gyeongju, and see autumn cosmos at the same time, I'd recommend Yard.
