Gyeongju café near Gyeongju World for chocolate cream cake: Yard

For this Gyeongju trip, I want to introduce a Bomun-danji café with really unexpectedly gorgeous scenery haha. When you think of a Gyeongju trip, Hwangnidang-gil or hanok-vibe cafés usually come to mind first, but this time I went to Yard, a Bomun-danji café where you can see pretty yellow cosmos on the way to Gyeongju World.

Where is Yard? A café that slots into a Bomun-danji and Gyeongju World day

Gyeongju café Yard is located on Cheongun 2-gil, not far from Bomun-danji. It's a great location to slot into a Bomun-danji or Gyeongju World trip, so it was really easy to drop by mid-trip.

The yellow cosmos field in front of Yard: the best photo spot

The first thing that caught my eye when I arrived at the café was the field of yellow cosmos right in front! A mix of yellow and orange cosmos spread out, and it was seriously pretty ㅠㅠ Even a casual snap looks like it's straight out of a magazine, so it's a great spot for the ultimate photo haha. There's even a path cut through the cosmos for photos, so definitely take a couple shot too.

Yard's opening hours and brunch times

It's open daily from 9am to 8pm, with last order at 7:30pm. Brunch is only served from 9am to 3pm, so if you want brunch, go early.

Inside Yard's first and second floors: a place to rest tired legs

The café is two stories, and I looked around the first floor first. When you're traveling around Gyeongju you end up walking way more than you'd expect, so your legs get sore and tired — this place had a relaxing vibe perfect for resting up. Baby chairs are available too.

After checking out the first floor, I headed up to the second floor. The men's restroom is on the 1st floor and the women's restroom is on the 2nd floor. The stairway space was decorated with a lot of character too haha.

The lush green tree view through the floor-to-ceiling windows felt truly healing~ It's a Bomun-danji café that's great for lingering and chatting for a while.

Yard's menu: americano from 5,500 won, cream latte as the signature

Here's the coffee, drinks, and bakery menu at Bomun-danji café Yard. Americano starts at ₩5,500, and there's also espresso, café latte, cappuccino, and vanilla bean latte, with cream latte as the signature menu! Plenty of non-coffee options too, plus organic teas~

This place is especially known for brunch, so there are plates, pasta, and toast, plus a bakery and cake selection, giving you a wide range of choices! Since I'd run out of energy mid-trip, I went with cake haha.

Chocolate cream cake for 7,500 won with two iced americanos

Ta-da~ here are the two iced americanos and the chocolate cream cake I ordered! The iced americano was cool and clean, great for quenching thirst and also perfect alongside dessert. It had almost no bitter or burnt taste, so it was smooth.

Chocolate cream cake, ₩7,500. A dense chocolate sheet paired with sweet, soft cream — you don't even need to taste it to know it's good ㅠㅠ Eating it when my energy was low felt like coming back to life.

A bite of chocolate cake, then a sip of americano haha. The chocolate cake is on the sweeter side, so having it with the bitter americano balanced out the sweetness nicely and they went really well together!

Is Yard worth a stop? An honest verdict

Honestly, I visited this Bomun-danji café without much expectation, just to recharge on sugar. But the coffee and cake were great, the café atmosphere was comfortable for resting, and the staff were kind~ Especially the yellow cosmos right in front of the café were so pretty that I hope everyone gets to visit!
