Gyeongju Bomun-danji café for fresh-baked pretzels at opening: Yard
In short
Yard is a two-story brunch café in the Bomun-danji area of Gyeongju, on the main road beside Gyeongju World. Arriving near opening time, I ordered pretzels straight from the oven and coffee and took a second-floor window seat overlooking a roughly 1,000-pyeong field of yellow cosmos. With pretzels that are crisp outside and chewy inside, the flower-field view and a large private parking lot, Yard is an easy place to rest during a Gyeongju trip.

While planning a Gyeongju trip, I was looking for a pretty café and ended up at Yard in Bomun-danji. I wanted this Gyeongju trip to have both good food and pretty scenery, and it just so happened the yellow cosmos in front of the café were in full bloom, which made me like the place even more!!!
When does the yellow cosmos field in front of Yard bloom?

In front of Yard there's a spacious flower field of about 1,000 pyeong, and when I visited the orange yellow cosmos were in gorgeous full bloom 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 The bloom period runs from August 15 to October 15, and they say new flowers bloom there each season!! So if you're looking for things to do in Gyeongju, this is a great spot to stop by the café and see the flowers too!!🌸🌼🌺

When I went, there were yellow cosmos still turning color alongside orange and deeper-toned cosmos, so I kept taking photos even before stepping into the café. The weather was great too, so the flower field mood was really pretty...!!! Even a careless snapshot turns into a life-shot photo zone here!📸
Yard's first floor: seating and bread fresh from the oven at opening time

Stepping inside, the first floor had plenty of tables and a clean, comfortable interior. There are quite a lot of seats, from bar-style window counters good for solo visits to tables suited for larger groups. Sitting by the window especially lets you see lush green trees, so you get greenery along with the flower field view🍃

I visited around opening time, and freshly baked bread and cakes happened to be coming out just then, filling the café with a savory bread smell🤤🤎

Tableware is self-service, and after ordering I headed up to the second floor!
The cosmos field view from Yard's second-floor window seats

Upstairs, the yellow cosmos field came into full view through the windows. It's a space with plenty of warm sunlight too, so the overall mood is really cozy.

There were also soft beanbag-style chairs, which looked great for lingering over a cup of coffee. With that kind of mood, Yard would make a good Gyeongju date spot too. You can enjoy brunch or coffee while looking out at the pretty flower field, so it's worth adding to a Gyeongju date course!

How do Yard's pretzels and coffee taste?
In the end I couldn't resist the smell of freshly baked bread and ordered a pretzel and coffee too.

The pretzel was filled with cream and chocolate, and since it's a pastry-style pretzel, I liked the crisp outside and chewy inside texture. It paired better with coffee than I expected, and eating it warm made it taste even better.

Why Yard is worth a stop on a Gyeongju trip
More than anything, just sitting there enjoying brunch and coffee while looking out at the cosmos view outside the window put me in a good mood. If you're looking for things to do in Gyeongju and want to find a café too, I'd recommend stopping by Yard during flower season. The spacious parking lot also made it easy to visit by car, and with plenty of tables on the first floor and a relaxed space to unwind on the second floor, it seemed like a good spot for family visits or group gatherings too. The yellow cosmos were especially beautiful during my visit, so if you want to see flowers and relax at a café at the same time, go check it out. For anyone looking for a café to rest at during a Gyeongju trip, this is a place that stayed memorable for letting me enjoy the scenery along with it.
