Gyeongju Bomun café with a Jean Jullien pop-up zone: Bibibidang

In short

Bibibidang Gyeongju is a traditional tea and dessert café that opened in summer 2025 on the first floor of the Uyang Museum, inside the Hilton hotel in Gyeongju's Bomun district. During the Jean Jullien "Aïe Raté" exhibition, character pop-up zones filled the first-floor café, and one order of danhobak bingsu (sweet pumpkin shaved ice) with dawan coffee came with grape pudding as a side sweet. Bibibidang Gyeongju tastes exactly like the Dalmaji flagship in Haeundae, so it is the pick when you want both good coffee and bingsu in Bomun.

If you're stopping by a café near Gyeongju's Bomun tourist complex, I recommend 'Bibibidang.' The same Bibibidang that's been running for over 10 years at Haeundae Dalmaji opened a Gyeongju branch in summer '25..! Visiting this year-old gem of a café :)

Modern café interior at Bibibidang Gyeongju

A modern interior, different from the Dalmaji branch (the framed art was even a Lee Ufan piece) — a neat, well-fitted café inside the Uyang Museum.

Bibibidang is a place where both the coffee and the bingsu (shaved ice) are amazing, so if you're looking for a café with great coffee, I recommend Bibibidang.

Jean Jullien pop-up zones in the first-floor café

Since the Uyang Museum happened to be hosting the Jean Jullien 'Aïe Raté' exhibition, the café itself had an Aïe Raté! pop-up zone too — a great accent point in an otherwise understated interior 🩵 Timed with the 'Jean Jullien exhibition' season, characters were naturally woven throughout the museum and into Bibibidang on the first floor. Makes the café look even prettier—

Danhobak bingsu (sweet pumpkin shaved ice) — a subtle, luxurious sweetness, the most popular signature menu item at Bibibidang. 15-year fermented hwangcha — a traditional herbal fermented tea with deep flavor. I ordered one danhobak bingsu and a dawan coffee.

An upscale, relaxed café — nearly full by around 2pm after lunch.

There's even a moon jar, very fitting for a museum café. There are terrace seats too — in autumn I'd love to sit outside..🦋

Danhobak bingsu and dawan coffee, with grape pudding on the side

The signature danhobak bingsu, no need to say more..🎃 Topped with jocheong (rice syrup), this bingsu isn't just sweet — it's the kind you keep wanting to eat! Shaved ice made from frozen danhobak sikhye (sweet pumpkin rice punch), who knew,,

The signature dawan coffee. Dawan coffee is coffee you drink held like a bowl. Dawan (茶碗): refers to the bowl used for drinking tea. Breaking down the hanja literally, 'da (茶)' meaning tea and 'wan (碗)' meaning bowl, together meaning a bowl-shaped vessel for holding tea. I want to go back and order the dawan coffee + danhobak bingsu combo again..😋

Above all, the upscale tableware plus a dessert served alongside — that's the heart-fluttering point.

Does Bibibidang Gyeongju taste like the Dalmaji flagship?

The signature and iconic item of Bibibidang is the danhobak bingsu. I always made sure to have it at the Busan Dalmaji flagship, and this Gyeongju second branch tastes exactly~~ the same. Sweet, smooth danhobak jocheong purée! Not overly sweet, quite clean, so it's probably a hit with older folks too, and something everyone from their 20s to 30s can agree on! At Bibibidang, even a single order comes with a small accompanying dessert, which really makes you feel taken care of 🙇🏻‍♂️

The little dessert that comes with the bingsu is grape pudding. Springy and just sweet enough — I finished it all without leaving a bite!

The little wooden skewer-shaped utensil..🤍 This café is bursting with mood.
