I was getting hungry after finishing up work near Gyodae Station.
I didn't feel like going far, so while looking for somewhere for a light meal, I stopped by Halls Gimbap.
The store felt bright and cozy with sunlight streaming in, which made the food taste even better :)

What I ordered: Seocho Nurungji Tteokbokki and the Halls Dakgangjeong Set
Seocho Nurungji Tteokbokki ₩7,500 / Halls Dakgangjeong Set ₩11,000
On this day, I ordered the Seocho Nurungji Tteokbokki and the Halls Dakgangjeong Set.

Getting such a hearty spread put me in a good mood :)

What does Seocho Nurungji Tteokbokki taste like?
Seocho Nurungji Tteokbokki!! The name itself made me curious, and it turned out to be a bit different from regular tteokbokki. Instead of a thin sauce, it's thick and rich, almost creamy.
The rice cakes were deeply seasoned too — spicy and sweet with the first bite. I love this kind of thick, rich tteokbokki, so it was totally my style!
The rice cakes were also chewy with the sauce soaked right in — really delicious. The nurungji (crispy scorched rice) was so crunchy, and dipping it into the sauce was absolutely amazing!

Black rice gimbap and cheongyang chili dakgangjeong at Halls Gimbap
The gimbap caught my eye first — it wasn't regular white rice but black rice instead. Taking a bite, the rice wasn't too much, just the right amount, and inside was egg omelet, thick ham, and plenty of crunchy cucumber.
The cucumber was sliced so thinly and rolled with such care. The crunch of the cucumber gave it great texture too. Fresh and packed with egg, it kept me full even after eating.
And the dakgangjeong that came with it — this was surprisingly good haha. Crispy outside, juicy inside, exactly my style!! It was coated in a sweet sauce with cheongyang chili peppers sprinkled on top. At first I thought it was just chili on regular dakgangjeong, but once I tried it, that was totally the highlight haha. Spicy and just so good.

Would I return to Halls Gimbap Main Branch for solo dining near Gyodae Station?
Dipping the gimbap in the tteokbokki sauce too, before I knew it, my plate was nearly empty. When there's tteokbokki sauce left, you just can't resist dipping gimbap in it haha.
If you want a filling meal near Gyodae Station, stop by Halls Gimbap!! Especially memorable for me was dipping the crispy nurungji into that thick tteokbokki sauce haha.
