Hanam Misa Chinese restaurant, early lunch booking: two ginseng roots
In short
O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch is a Chinese restaurant on Misa-daero in Hanam, Gyeonggi that skips jjajangmyeon and jjamppong to focus on seafood nurungjitang (scorched rice soup) and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork). An early lunch reservation brought seafood abalone nurungjitang for two at 20,000 won per person, each stone pot topped with a root of jangnaesam (cultivated wild ginseng) — the writer ate both roots, as her hot-blooded husband skips ginseng. With more than 15 ingredients in a thick, gently seasoned broth, O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang works well as a restorative family meal.

O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang, a fantastic Hanam Chinese restaurant near Starfield Hanam, doesn't serve jjajang or jjamppong — its main menu is seafood nurungjitang (scorched rice soup) and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork).
There's plenty of parking in front and beside the store, so you don't have to worry about that, and it's perfectly positioned for a stop after Starfield.
The store is spacious and clean, and I'd heard you could try all kinds of nurungjitang there, so I was curious. Today, after stopping by the dye shop, I made a reservation ahead for lunch. Honestly, I'd never had proper nurungjitang before.
It suddenly got chilly recently and I was craving something warm, so let me tell you about the delicious seafood abalone nurungjitang, packed with vegetables, mushrooms, and seafood, that I enjoyed at O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch as a nourishing meal.
Where is O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa, and is there parking?
O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch is at 616-1 Misa-daero, 1st floor, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do. It's 979m from Exit 1 of Hanampungsan Station, and open Monday through Sunday from 11:00 to 21:20.
There's ample parking beside and in front of the store, so you can come without worrying at all — they say they can fit up to 30 cars.
The sign for O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang stood out right along the main road, so it was easy to find. The store stretches long on both sides, so the interior was really spacious.
O Hyeongje — 'Five Brothers' — I briefly wondered if it's run by five brothers together. The area around the store was clean, and the entrance was clean too. Let's head inside~~

I'd heard there's usually a wait since it's a popular spot, but since it was an early lunch today, it was a bit quiet. There must be a lot of reservation customers — reservation names and party sizes were posted.
Inside O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang: partitioned seats for family gatherings

This is the interior of O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang, a great Hanam Chinese restaurant. The moment I stepped in, the clean, comfortable, bright look put me in a good mood. Meals eaten in a pleasant space just taste better.
The store is spacious enough for family gatherings, friend meetups, or company dinners, and with the variety and quality of the food, it seems like it would make for a fun time.

Tables for dining are arranged on both sides centered around the entrance. The window side has partitions that function like private rooms, and the wall side has long tables where groups were dining. I was able to take these photos after most of the diners had left.
There's also a restroom inside, so you can use it conveniently.
This is the self-serve bar~~ A nourishing, healthy bowl with broth and seafood nurungjitang served over an individual stone pot.
When you order, they bring you side dishes, and if you finish them you can comfortably go get more. 8Sunny loves namul (seasoned greens), so I went back for more chwinamul (aster greens) once.

Seafood abalone nurungjitang at 20,000 won a person, with two ginseng roots

After ordering, they brought out the side dishes. They looked clean and neatly arranged too — cool baek-kimchi (white kimchi), tangy pa-kimchi (green onion kimchi), spicy dried radish salad, crunchy cabbage salad, sweet-tart dongchimi (radish water kimchi), perfectly seasoned chwinamul, and napa cabbage kimchi~~
A little while later, the staff brought over a large stone pot with nurungjitang, seafood, vegetables, and broth and poured it all in.
They topped each stone pot with one root of jangnaesam, but my husband couldn't eat it since he runs too hot-blooded, so I ate both roots myself. Power surge~~🔥
Seafood abalone nurungjitang, ₩20,000 per person. Since it's a stone pot, it kept bubbling and simmering the whole time~~
This is the full table setting~ With jangnaesam and all kinds of vegetables and seafood in it, it was an energizing, nourishing meal~~ 👍
In the thick broth there seemed to be roughly 15 or more ingredients — jangnaesam, jun-sun (water shield), bell pepper, broccoli, button mushroom, wood ear mushroom, shiitake, bok choy, yam, ginkgo nuts, shrimp, baby octopus, squid, scallop, abalone, and more.

I ladled it into a bowl to enjoy it better. Can you see the thick texture of the broth?

None of the vegetables or seafood were mushy — the colors were vivid on everything, which made it fresh and even tastier. At first I enjoyed the crispy texture of the nurungjitang, but after a while, once the scorched rice softened in the broth, it became soft and savory. The seasoning wasn't harsh either, just right, so I ate happily without even noticing I was getting full.
After the meal, there were oranges on the self-serve bar for dessert, so I had some as an after-meal treat.

What to order next time at O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang
I had a hearty, delicious, nourishing seafood abalone nurungjitang at O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang, a Hanam favorite. Next time I'll come back for the seafood nurungjitang and the tenderloin tangsuyuk. Seeing how many diners were eating tangsuyuk, it really seems like it's known for that too.
If you love fresh, nourishing seafood nurungjitang, visit O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang in Hanam. You'll be all smiles after eating~~♡
