I had somewhere to be in Daegu coming from Pohang, so I just hopped on a train — super convenient. It takes less than an hour from Pohang, so I end up choosing the train a lot haha. My place is only 5 minutes from Pohang Station, so the accessibility is really great 😊

After finishing up my schedule in Daegu, it was already dinner time before heading back to Pohang, so we decided to eat before leaving! Coming all the way to Daegu without eating would be such a waste for a Pohang local 🥹 So here's my honest review of a restaurant near Dongdaegu Station, Modak Texas Barbecue!!

Modak Texas Barbecue Dongdaegu Branch is right in front of Dongdaegu Station — just one crosswalk away. Parking is no burden either, since they support parking at the MD Building lot nearby.

Modak Texas Barbecue is literally right in front of Dongdaegu Station hahaha. Just cross one crosswalk and you're there, so it's perfect to visit before or after any business at Dongdaegu Station. You can spot that full Texas vibe 🤎 from far away.

Parking around Dongdaegu Station isn't easy, but since they support the MD Building parking lot, there's zero inconvenience even if you drive 🅿️

Stepping into Texas — the exterior alone was already impressive, and the interior turned out bigger than expected with plenty of tables, so it looked like a great spot for gatherings or work dinners too >_<

Inside Modak Texas Barbecue: the table setup, stew and free marshmallow zone

At Modak Texas Barbecue, you order via a tablet PC at each table, and a warm stew comes out first as an appetizer. There's also a free marshmallow zone set up on one side of the restaurant.

We had booked ahead, so they showed us to a table that was already set up. Ordering is easy — just use the tablet PC provided at every table.

The stew came out first. The warm appetizer stew paired with nacho chips was amazing haha. It totally woke up my appetite — I could already smell the chef cooking, and I got so hungry 🤣

In the end I couldn't resist and went straight for the marshmallow zone haha haha. A lot of people were having drinks with it, and it was completely free! Fun and sweet at the same time — perfect for dessert 💕

Finally, the main menu 〰️〰️〰️ The Texas Platter Set for Two arrived first, and the table was already packed 🫠 Various meats along with an assortment of sauces and vegetables, plus tortillas and fries for wrapping with the coleslaw — the portion was really generous.

And being able to order free refills of tortillas and coleslaw is beyond generous...👍 Can they really give away this much? No wonder it's famous as a restaurant near Dongdaegu Station.

First, slicing the brisket to a good size and adding your choice of sauce and coleslaw onto a tortilla was pure paradise..... Looking at these photos again while writing this post is making me want it again 😂

The seasoned pork shoulder in a dinner roll, eaten like a burger, was a whole different level of ridiculously good!!!

There were so many sauces to choose from, so it was fun mixing it up, and every bite tasted different, so we never got tired of it. Even the wing bones were warm and tender like they were freshly fried — happy the whole time we were eating haha.

I'm not exaggerating — even though a good amount of time had passed while we were eating, the fries were still crispy and warm. It was surprising!

How does the Shrimp Cream Pasta at 16,000 won taste?

The Shrimp Cream Pasta at Modak Texas Barbecue is ₩16,000, made with a Texas cheese base that's thick and full of flavor. I thought the platter would be the main event, but I ended up scraping the pasta bowl clean without even realizing it.

Next up was the Shrimp Cream Pasta. I genuinely thought the platter was going to be the star, you know? But what is this?! Since it's clearly built on a Texas cheese base, the sauce was really thick and packed with flavor — I lost myself and scraped the whole thing clean haha.

My husband and I were satisfied enough to say we'd come back to eat at Modak Texas Barbecue even without any other plans in Daegu. This is officially a restaurant near Dongdaegu Station worth recommending 👌 I'd recommend it to anyone who loves trying different kinds of meat, anyone craving Texas-style pasta, and anyone planning a gathering or work dinner near Dongdaegu Station 🫶
