What kind of place is Halls Gimbap Main Branch in Gyodae?
Halls Gimbap Main Branch is a Gyodae lunch spot where you can eat dakgangjeong alongside healthy gimbap (seaweed rice roll). It's actually been open a long time — they just changed the name to Halls Gimbap over a branding issue — so the owners have plenty of experience and plenty of regulars. The rolls are packed with ingredients and light on rice, making them perfect for anyone on a low-carb diet, so I'd recommend it if you're stuck on what to have for a diet-friendly lunch. Why did I only just find out gimbap and dakgangjeong together tastes this good,,

Where is Halls Gimbap Main Branch and what are the hours?
Halls Gimbap is a 10-minute walk from Gyodae Station Exit 1, closed every Sunday. Mon–Fri 8:30–20:00, Sat 8:00–15:00. Since it opens early, it's good for breakfast too, and they said takeout and delivery are both available. Turns out there's also a directly-run branch in Hoegi-dong lol

Solo-dining seats and terrace at Halls Gimbap
There were more staff inside than I expected, and delivery orders kept coming in nonstop — clearly a busy Gyodae lunch spot haha. There are especially plenty of terrace seats and solo-dining seats, so it's good for a quiet solo lunch, and on a nice day the terrace feels like a picnic. Halls Gimbap Main Branch — good for the body and the mind!

Menu lineup and how half-and-half gimbap ordering works
The menu has gimbap, dakgangjeong, and a set menu where you can have both together — though the dakgangjeong in the set is apparently half the size of the small portion. Gimbap can also be ordered half-and-half, so if you want to try a few kinds, I'd recommend getting half rolls of each.

There's also a variety of cup noodles you can have with the gimbap, including small cups, which seem like they'd go well with it.

Free bonito broth at Halls Gimbap
The warm bonito broth is served free, and it has a clean taste without added seasoning, so I ended up drinking three cups lol. It pairs so well with the gimbap that I just drank the broth on its own without the cup noodles.

Halls gimbap + wasabi gimbap 7,500 won and dakgangjeong S 10,000 won
Today's order: Halls gimbap + wasabi gimbap ₩7,500, dakgangjeong size S ₩10,000.

The gimbap was even more packed than expected, with lots of vegetables — perfect when you want something fresh! Each roll has 10 pieces, and each piece is big enough for a fully filling meal.

The signature Halls gimbap, filled with spicy fish cake
The signature Halls gimbap has spicy fish cake along with egg strips and vegetables, so it tastes fresh and healthy with a bit of a kick! I like spicy fish cake gimbap or ttaengcho (hot pepper) gimbap, and this wasn't as spicy as I expected, so even those who can't handle spice can eat it — recommended for anyone who wants a little edge within a healthy meal lol.

The tuna-packed gimbap
The gimbap loaded with tuna had more tuna than rice, so it was packed with protein, and the tuna was moist rather than dry — delicious!! Some places that sell tuna-heavy gimbap worry me by adding too much mayonnaise, but here it was just moist enough and had a healthy taste, which I liked.

Dakgangjeong size S: crisp outside, juicy chicken thigh inside
The dakgangjeong was really delicious, and the chili peppers on top were spicy in a way that matched it well.

Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, made with chicken thigh meat, so it was so soft, and the sauce coating was just right. Isn't this basically just a dakgangjeong specialty spot?? For ₩10,000, this amount felt reasonable, so it seems great for takeout whenever you're craving dakgangjeong!!

Final verdict on lunch at Halls Gimbap Main Branch
I ate through the whole spread, cleaned up myself, and headed out! The store's interior is clean, the owner was kind, and above all the terrace seats were so nice that I felt like I was eating gimbap on a picnic — Halls Gimbap Main Branch, a solid Gyodae lunch spot. If you're looking for a Gyodae gimbap restaurant or a Gyodae dakgangjeong spot, I recommend Halls Gimbap Main Branch!
