Mulhoe vs. Munhak Stadium cup version, price compared: Minyeong Hwareo

I went to see an Incheon SSG Landers game at Munhak Baseball Stadium! You can't talk about Munhak Stadium food without mentioning Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang's mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) and sushi, and it turns out there's a Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang branch near Munhak Stadium at Moraenae Market too, so I picked up takeout ahead of time with no waiting!

Getting there from Moraenae Market Station and parking

Moraenae Market in Incheon was bigger than I expected, and with all the market food — twisted donuts, doughnuts, hotteok (sweet pancakes) — it was fun just wandering around.

Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch is a 10-minute walk from Moraenae Market Station Exit 3, and you can park at the Moraenae Market public parking lot.

You can buy sushi, raw fish, or mulhoe, and they pack everything well with ice packs. It only takes about 10 minutes by car to Munhak Stadium, so it stayed cool and fresh enough to enjoy!

Sushi selection and prices

There were so many kinds of sushi and the value was great — egg sushi, shrimp sushi, eel sushi, salmon rolls, all made with fresh fish, packed full. They said the lineup changes a bit depending on the day's stock.

There was also salmon sushi, flatfish sushi, and engawa (fluke fin) sushi, each pack priced around ₩10,000 — such a good deal.

They also had special sushi sets and mixed sushi sets, great for trying a bit of everything, plus a giant futomaki (thick seaweed roll) haha.

Cold-bag packaging

The packaging was really well done — they put in an ice pack and handed it over in an insulated bag with a handle, so it was easy to carry.

They packed in a whole spread — wasabi, soy sauce, and a broth kit — plus wooden chopsticks and pickled radish (rakkyo).

Trying the special sushi at the stadium

I bought mulhoe and special sushi, which seemed like just the right amount for two people. I was really looking forward to the mulhoe too — cold, icy broth at the hot stadium sounded perfect.

The special sushi combo was flatfish, salmon, akami (lean tuna), meka, aburi salmon (torched salmon), soy-marinated shrimp, freshwater eel, and garlic shrimp — every single piece was delicious, and the fish was thick enough that it beat plenty of dedicated sushi restaurants. It was my first time eating sushi at a baseball game, and it was surprisingly easy to eat — I loved it haha.

Same ₩16,000 as Munhak Stadium's cup mulhoe — but how much more do you get?

The mulhoe from Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch is the same ₩16,000 as Munhak Stadium's cup mulhoe, but it felt like a lot more. Mulhoe portions can be awkward when eating alone, but this was just the right amount, packed with vegetables and fish — way more satisfying than expected.

They pour in the icy broth and it's loaded with fish, seaweed, and vegetables, yum. Isn't this basically a diet meal haha.

A recommended tip for Munhak Stadium

The portions were bigger than expected, and thanks to the good packaging, freshness held up fine for 4-5 hours. Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch is genuinely great value for a sushi spot in Guwol-dong.

Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang is famous all over Incheon, with locations at Sinpo Market, Moraenae Market, and more. The Moraenae Market branch, being close to Munhak Stadium, has a friendly owner and great quality, so I'd recommend it as a Munhak Stadium tip haha.
