Garlic shrimp and salmon sushi takeout before closing in Incheon
In short
Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch is a takeout-only sushi shop tucked inside Moraenae Market in Namdong, Incheon. Picking up special sushi, garlic shrimp sushi, and garlic salmon sushi packs about two hours before closing, the garlic combos never got old and the flatfish was thick-cut with great chew. Zero Pay, Onnuri gift certificates, and Ieum cards are all accepted, and the broth and ginger were generous — a solid pick to settle on for takeout sushi in Namdong, Incheon.

Getting there from Moraenae Market Station — is there still stock right before closing?
Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch is literally deep inside Moraenae Market — you just keep walking in!! I took Incheon Subway Line 2, got off at Moraenae Market Station, came out Exit 3, and walked about 5 minutes.
I went worrying there'd be no stock left since it was so close to closing time, but almost everything was still there except a few items! (It's a secret that I was a little disappointed the omakase sushi I'd been thinking about buying was sold out... haha)

Takeout baskets and payment methods
Aren't the takeout baskets so pretty ㅠㅠ Being a takeout-specialist sushi shop, they seemed to pay careful attention even to this detail.

It was even better that Zero Pay, Onnuri gift certificates, and Ieum cards were all accepted without any hassle.

Three packs: special sushi, garlic shrimp sushi, garlic salmon sushi
The sushi I bought was this trio~~ I brought home special sushi, garlic shrimp sushi, and garlic salmon sushi.

The special sushi's color is insane... it's a sushi set with 2 pieces each of the must-have fish, flatfish and salmon, and the rest made up of tuna, garlic salmon, garlic shrimp, eel, soy shrimp, and yellowtail amberjack(?).

The garlic shrimp sushi comes with 7 pieces. I was going to just get plain shrimp sushi, but I worried it might get monotonous after a while, and since I love garlic flavor I chose this one instead — a good call, haha.

The garlic salmon sushi also comes with 7 pieces. I think I was under the spell of garlic flavor at this point because I ended up choosing garlic for everything, but I still don't regret it lol. Even eating it like this, it never gets old and it's delicious lol.

Trying yellowtail amberjack(?) sushi for the first time
While eating this sushi I kept wondering what fish it was, so I asked GPT and it seems to be yellowtail amberjack (busari). The texture was a bit firm with a clean, mild flavor — I'd never had it before so it felt novel.

These twin sets of garlic shrimp and garlic salmon are the kind of combo I feel like I could eat every single day. Sweet and salty in the right balance, well seasoned, and the base shrimp and salmon aren't fishy at all and are soft, so you just keep eating without stopping 👍

Plenty of broth, ginger, and pickled ginger
Another thing I loved was the dipping broth sauces along with the ginger and pickled ginger (rakkyo) — they gave us generous amounts so we never ran out. I normally don't eat ginger because it's usually just too sharp, but this one suited my taste, so eating it alongside cut through the richness completely and I kept reaching for more.

They also threw in like 6 mini cups of broth, so I kept refilling and drinking it lol. You know you're supposed to keep helping your digestion along with broth or green tea while eating sushi, right, haha.

Drizzled on some soy sauce and wasabi and took a shot since it looked like a cute little tray.

How was the flatfish and salmon?
I've been eating only thinly sliced flatfish sushi lately, and it's such a familiar flavor that I didn't expect much? But the flesh was genuinely thick with great chew — truly the best flatfish sushi I've had recently.

My standards for salmon sushi have gotten so high that it rarely impresses me anymore... but here, the salmon flavor itself is genuinely moving. Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang is more delicious than what you'd get at a dedicated raw fish or sushi restaurant. I know it started from its flagship store near Yeonan Pier in Incheon and has since opened tons of branches — it's an Incheon favorite that's apparently in a lot of market storefronts too. If you're passing through as a sushi spot in Namdong, Incheon, I definitely recommend grabbing some 👍👍👍
