5 pork cuts compared for 4 people, Bucheon BBQ: Cham Dwaejitgan

In short

Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch is a 24-hour Korean BBQ restaurant near Sinjung-dong Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi. Four diners ordered one serving each of five cuts — black pork belly, black pork neck, Boseong green tea-fed pork belly, pork neck, and cheongyeopsal (pork jowl) — to compare, finishing with minari (water celery) fried rice. With plenty of group seating and round-the-clock hours, this is the first place that comes to mind for a group gathering in Sinjung-dong.

Cham Dwaejitgan sits near Sinjung-dong Station in Bucheon. I hadn't had someone grill meat for me in a while, so I went looking for a Sinjung-dong BBQ spot with grilling service.

How spacious is the inside? Group seating and restroom

Inside Cham Dwaejitgan. The interior is very spacious with lots of group seating, and since it's open 24 hours, it's great for group gatherings. Plus, it has a restroom inside the store, which is rare in Sinjung-dong ❗️

Cham Dwaejitgan menu: 5 of 6 pork cuts ordered

Cham Dwaejitgan's menu. There are six cuts total, from Jirisan black pork and Boseong green tea-fed pork, and we tried five of them, skipping only gabrisal. You can order one serving at a time of each cut mixed together, so there's fun in picking and choosing 😁

Basic side dishes and self-serve bar

Cham Dwaejitgan's basic banchan (side dishes). Minari, kimchi, and bean sprouts are set directly on the grill right away. The tastiest side dish was, surprisingly, the pickled garlic stem! I don't even like garlic stems, but thinly sliced like this, the texture was great and delicious 👍

All the vegetables except minari can be refilled at the self-serve bar... but wait, the kimchi is a whole head?! 😮 The owner clearly knows what's up 👍

And if you order alcohol, they thoughtfully bring milk thistle along with it! 😮

Trusting the milk thistle to save me, I went for it even on a weekday 😎

Four cuts, one serving each — staff grilling service

At first we ordered one serving each of black pork belly, black pork neck, Boseong pork belly, and cheongyeopsal (pork jowl). Mushrooms, cheongyang peppers, and sliced potato come out alongside the meat.

Staff grill the meat from start to finish, and even the grill plate itself is handmade, so there's less oil splatter and less smell — very convenient in every way 👍

Pork jowl (cheongyeopsal) ₩19,000

The first thing we tried was cheongyeopsal (pork jowl)! Surprisingly it had a smoky aroma and a chewy, delicious texture 👍 Turns out it's smoked over rice husks to add extra flavor! Even though it's pork jowl, it wasn't greasy at all, so I felt like I could eat a lot without getting sick of it 😁

Boseong green tea-fed pork belly ₩16,000

This pork belly comes from pigs fed Boseong green tea, and it's grilled over charcoal, making the meat noticeably softer than at other places 👍

Black pork belly ₩19,000

If you're not into the soft-texture camp, go for the black pork belly! The skin was wonderfully chewy, and it was also the cut my friend Hayeng enjoyed most 🤤

Black pork belly grilled with the skin pressed down

Cham Dwaejitgan's pork belly is especially good because they press the whole skin down firmly while grilling! Apparently this removes any gamy smell and makes the texture even better 😮

Black pork neck grilling on the plate

Black pork neck ₩18,000

Pork neck is often dry at a lot of places, so I didn't expect much, but this was surprisingly soft and delicious 😮 Even my friend, who isn't a pork neck fan like me, admitted it was good 👍

Is 4 servings enough for 4 people? We ordered 2 more

Four of us ordered four servings, and the portion turned out bigger than expected, plus with all the side vegetables, we were getting pretty full 😮 But to keep our pride intact, we ordered two more servings! This time we got regular pork belly and flower pork neck.

Additional order of Boseong green tea-fed flower pork neck

Boseong green tea-fed flower pork neck ₩16,000

The flower pork neck was also soft for a neck cut and quite tasty. Personally I found the black pork neck marginally better, but the difference wasn't huge — so going with the ₩2,000-cheaper Boseong option might actually be the smarter move.

Guide to Cham Dwaejitgan's classic pork combos

6 classic pork belly combos — a few recommendations

For reference, Cham Dwaejitgan has six classic combos for enjoying pork belly at its best. Here are a few I'd recommend:

First up, sliced potato! Wrapping the golden-grilled potato slices with the meat like a lettuce wrap felt surprisingly novel 😮 The flavor itself is familiar, but it's fun 🎵

Pork belly wrapped with grilled sliced potato

The spicy sauce was pretty good too, so I'd recommend it to anyone who likes spicy food — it adds heat plus extra savoriness.

A piece of meat dipped in spicy sauce

And last but not least, of course, kimchi 🤤🤤 — if you're Korean, this one's a must. It was pleasantly tangy and perfect for wrapping with the meat, and beyond the taste, grilling a whole head of kimchi gave the whole experience extra vibe.

Finishing with fried rice, ₩3,000

We ordered two servings of fried rice, Korea's signature 'dessert.' Even the fried rice gets cooked by the staff themselves 🙏

Minari fried rice cooked by staff

With minari mixed in, it was fragrant and delicious — a great way to finish. As they say, Koreans run on rice 😁

Fried rice spread out on the grill to finish

On the way out, they even hand you candy and mouthwash 〜〜 be sure to grab one on your way out 😁

A good pick for group gatherings in Sinjung-dong?

Cham Dwaejitgan, my pick for a Bucheon Sinjung-dong pork BBQ restaurant! With staff grilling service, great meat quality, plenty of side vegetables, and good service, it was a satisfying visit 👍 Most of all, with lots of group seating and 24-hour operation every day, it's ideal for group gatherings and work dinners. This will probably be the first place that comes to mind for a group meetup in Sinjung-dong 👍
