Jongno 3-ga bakery after a year abroad: sweet potato bread, Munhwa

Hey everyone,, it's been like a year, hasn't it.. Do you know what I missed most while living abroad for a while..? Bread. Korean bread. There's just nothing like it sold overseas, that good stuff. So it's been ages since I've come here — I visited Munhwa Bakery, a bakery I love near Jongno 3-ga!!

I used to visit Munhwa Bakery near Jongno 3-ga all the time since I had a lot of reasons to be in the area, but this time it's been really, reeeally long! I guess it's just the place I end up at as soon as I get back to Korea.

How close is Munhwa Bakery to Jongno 3-ga Station?

Munhwa Bakery near Jongno 3-ga is the closest bakery to Jongno 3-ga Station! I feel like most of you already know where it is, haha. Before coming, I searched around for what good bread is popular these days, and there were sooo many reviews!

The shop is on the small side and there were customers inside, so I waited outside for a bit. Apparently it's rated highly in a Korean consumer industry evaluation and also donates to Save the Children! Somehow that makes eating this bread feel more meaningful.

What was on Munhwa Bakery's display shelves

Wow,, the breads I missed are all still here..!!! Injeolmi bread (sweet rice cake bread with roasted soybean powder), peanut bread, mugwort rice cake bread, cheese bread, squid ink cream bread, and more..!!! Munhwa Bakery near Jongno 3-ga really knows how to read its customers.

The menu seems to have changed slightly ㅠㅠㅠ I think this is my first time seeing the white bean paste bread!! The sweet potato bread looked delicious too ㅠㅠㅠ Is it the kind with sweet potato filling packed inside? I was curious but didn't ask. Because I could just eat it and find out myself, haha.

Munhwa Bakery's best sellers: garlic bread and coffee bread

The most popular items, coffee bread and garlic bread, are still here! I switch it up with different breads each visit, but somehow at Munhwa Bakery near Jongno 3-ga I always end up ordering the garlic bread...! Is it just me? Hehe. The garlic bread here is genuinely so good. The garlic flavor comes through strong, but the bread itself is soft..! Even people who don't like baguettes seem to love this one!?

Does the onion bagel leave you with bad breath?

The onion bagel is still the same~ At first I hesitated to buy it because I worried about bad breath from the onion, but after trying it last time, no smell at all^ㅠ^ Trust me and eat it, everyone, hoho. I guess since I'm around here so often, I stop by Munhwa Bakery after going to a café, and before or after lunch or dinner too,, I don't know, my feet just keep bringing me back here...ㅎ

Garlic bread, sliced and bagged to go

Of course, the signature garlic bread at Munhwa Bakery near Jongno 3-ga. They always ask if I want it sliced, and I always say yes haha. It's easier to eat once I'm home>_<

They always pack it in a generously sized bag, which makes me happy. Is it just me who feels a little happier carrying a bag of bread around? Hoho.

Already excited thinking about getting home, reading a book, drinking coffee, and eating a piece of bread. I don't know. I think bread is the best thing in the world. No wait, Korean bread.

What does Munhwa Bakery's sweet potato bread taste like?

I also grabbed the sweet potato bread I'd been eyeing for a while, haha. The bread is chewy~ and genuinely delicious ㅠㅠㅠㅠ Plus with the sweet potato in it, it's filling enough to count as a meal!!

After seeing this, I don't think you'll be able to resist bringing some home either... but good things should be shared...?!?!?!?! It used to be just garlic bread as my fixed order, but now sweet potato bread is a permanent fixture too! It felt so good coming back to Munhwa Bakery after all this time. Ah, this is real Seoul bread. The one I missed ㅠㅠㅠㅠ Really chewy~~~ and since we all love this flavor, I don't think I need to explain any more, hahaha.
