Beef barbecue restaurant in Buk, Daegu: Gogi 9dan family dinner
In short
Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch is a beef barbecue restaurant on Chimsannam-ro in Buk, Daegu. I ordered the 500g flower rib platter and Gogi 9dan Set, and found the beef tender yet pleasantly chewy, with plenty of side dishes to vary each bite. The parking, seating for four to eight, and playroom made it seem suitable for a family meal or group gathering.

When choosing a place for a family meal, I look at the meat as well as parking, seating, and facilities for children. At Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch (고기9단 침산직영점), I had flower ribs and a set meal, then looked around the dining area and amenities.

Where is the restaurant, and is parking convenient?
The restaurant is at 197 Chimsannam-ro, Buk-gu, Daegu. The space beneath the building is in a piloti-style layout, with fairly ample parking, so it was convenient to visit by car. I was told that the National Health Insurance Service parking lot right next door can also be used free of charge on weekends.

Is it suitable for children or larger groups?
The interior was generally neat and well organized. I could also see meat being prepared directly on one side. There were tables for four as well as seats for up to eight, which seemed suitable for family meals, gatherings with friends, or company dinners. There were group diners even at lunchtime, and a separate lunch special was also available.
There was also a playroom and arcade machines for children. These are facilities worth noting for families who look for a playroom when dining out with children.

How can you order the meat?
Each table had a tablet, so I could take my time looking through the menu before ordering. The first order had to be a full platter: I could choose one cut or select two cuts as half platters.

We ordered a 500g flower rib platter, the Gogi 9dan Set, and two bowls of rice. The set included 80g of yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), pork kimchi stew, jjolmyeon (spicy chewy noodles), fresh wasabi, and sushi.

What side dishes come with the meal?
The basic side dishes arrived first after we ordered. There was such a variety that the table filled up quickly.

Japchae and seasoned raw crab were also included as side dishes. With several dishes that worked well with rice or alongside the meat, I could eat the same meat in different combinations.

How was the flower rib platter when grilled?
The flower rib platter was 500g, which felt quite generous to me. The grain and color of the meat looked good, with fat distributed in a balanced way.

I grilled it myself over charcoal. The heat was steady, and the meat retained its juices inside after the outside was cooked. It was tender but still had a pleasant chew, with a savory richness.
I ate the meat on its own, then added a little fresh wasabi or paired it with side dishes. Changing the wraps and accompaniments kept it from becoming repetitive.

How did the Gogi 9dan Set go with the meat?
I was pleased that the Gogi 9dan Set let me have everything from yukhoe to stew and jjolmyeon alongside the meat. The yukhoe was a good light way to awaken my appetite before eating the grilled meat.

The jjolmyeon was sweet and tangy, making it a good palate change between bites of meat.

The pork kimchi stew was warm and spicy, and went well with a bowl of rice. I also enjoyed putting grilled meat on the sushi from the set and adding fresh wasabi. It was a combination that suited me, since I like alternating between different dishes.

What is available at the dessert bar after the meal?
On one side of the restaurant, there was a dessert bar with snacks, iced coffee, and maesil (Korean plum) tea. It was convenient to finish with a drink without leaving the restaurant after the meat. I liked the texture of the flower ribs and the variety of accompaniments, while the parking, seating, and playroom were also features to consider when choosing a place for a family meal.
