Daegu bossam restaurant with cheese potato pancake: Uldong Bossam
In short
Uldong Bossam (울동보쌈) is a Korean restaurant on Gyeongsanggamyeong-gil in Jung-gu, Daegu. I had the large-meat bossam set and a cheese-topped shredded potato pancake late at night; the spicy stew and crisp pancake stood out, while the minari pancake was sold out.

Late after work and hungry, I stopped by Uldong Bossam (울동보쌈) in Daegu’s Gyodong neighborhood. I had a bossam set with a potato pancake.

Where is Uldong Bossam, and when does it close?
The address is 279 Gyeongsanggamyeong-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu, first floor. The original listing gives the hours as 11:00–23:00, with a break from 15:00–16:30 and last order at 21:30.

What was the atmosphere and seating like?
The interior had a cozy atmosphere that reminded me of my grandmother’s house.

There was also a bar table toward the back. When I visited, the restaurant felt spacious.

What did I order?
After looking over the menu, I ordered the bossam set with large meat, a potato pancake, and Fanta Pine. I was disappointed that the minari pancake was sold out when I visited.

What comes with the bossam set?
The bossam set came in regular and large-meat options. I chose the large-meat version, which came with boiled pork, shredded radish, and chives.

There were five side dishes, and the set also included stew, which I liked.

I ground whole sesame seeds and ate them with the sauce. Salted shrimp and ssamjang were also available, so I could alternate the accompaniments with the bossam.

How did the cheese-topped potato pancake taste?
The potato pancake was a shredded potato pancake made by pan-frying julienned potatoes. They added a generous amount of cheese right away, and it was larger than I expected.

When I tried it, the crisp texture was especially noticeable. Soy sauce and ketchup came with it, but I preferred eating it with ketchup.

What stood out after the meal?
The spicy stew went well with the bossam because it cut through the richness I felt while eating the pork. I also ate it with plenty of chives.

I finished with a Fanta Pine, which I had not had in a long time. With bossam, side dishes, and stew all included, the meal felt like good value to me.
