Late-night pad krapao and tom yum pho in Guro, Seoul: Thai Du

I got a discount, but I genuinely enjoyed the meal and left satisfied. Writing this honestly!

A wedding invitation gathering brought me to Thai food in Guro Digital Complex

Once wedding prep is mostly done, the wedding invitation gatherings are all that's left haha. It's nice to see friends after a while, and even though working full-time makes it a bit tiring, chatting with friends still puts me in a good mood ☺️

We usually do these invitation meetups in Gangnam, but since I'm working, my friend agreed to come near my office instead. Trying to figure out where to go with a friend I hadn't seen in a while, I picked Thai Du Guro Digital Complex Branch, a place I'd wanted to try for a while. It's close to my office, but I rarely get the chance to actually come here haha.

I love strongly flavored food — Vietnamese, Thai, mala tang, that kind of thing — and I really love authentic local spots, so with good reviews too, I visited with high expectations.

How to get there from Guro Digital Complex Station, hours, and parking

It's about a 10-minute walk from Guro Digital Complex Station, or you can take the village bus. Since I had a long wait for the village bus, I just walked. It does feel a little far..^^

These days a lot of restaurants close early, but they were still taking orders until 9:30 pm, so even though it was pretty late, we were thankfully able to eat ☺️

Parking 🚗 On weekends or after 5 pm on weekdays, you can park on the building's 1st floor lot, but it's paid haha. ₩1,000 for the first 30 minutes, ₩3,000 per additional 60 minutes. A little disappointing that parking is paid, but since I came by public transit it was fine for me~

Small but clean and full of atmosphere — it looked delicious from the outside already.

The hall atmosphere and service

It looked small from outside, but once inside, the hall was actually quite spacious — good for family gatherings, and since I'm currently in the middle of wedding invitation season, I thought this could work well for that kind of meetup too.

The owner is a foreigner and was very kind ☺️ The staff member was also a foreigner, still a bit unsure with Korean so there was a brief miscommunication, but they seemed really sweet haha.

What we ordered

The signature dish is pho, and everything looked delicious — tom yum pho, pad thai, bun cha, pad krapao moo sap, poo pad pong curry — so it was hard to choose, but since my friend can't eat shrimp or crab, we ordered tom yum pho and pad krapao moo sap 🍜 Cilantro has to be added separately haha.

The dishes came out really fast~ We were hungry, so that was great 😆

I'd had disappointing tom yum elsewhere and hadn't liked it since. Curious, I tried a spoonful first 🥄 and — wait, is this actually good?! It had a lot of what looked like bay leaves or spice leaves mixed in, so the aroma was strong, and it was loaded with seafood. Also, the portion of noodles was huge 🍜 I'd have been fine with a bit less.

And pad krapao moo sap — my first time trying this dish, so I was excited 😆 It's a pork stir-fried rice dish with Thai vegetables mixed in.

It had such a rich, exotic aroma that I loved it. There was quite a lot of meat too, and it was fried crispy so the texture was great — there are only a few restaurants where I think 'I have to bring my husband here next time,' and this is definitely one of them~ I want to try the poo pad pong curry too, honestly I want to work through the whole menu one dish at a time haha. Great atmosphere, kind owner, good food. The hall is fairly spacious and they're open late, so it seems great for group gatherings too.

• It doesn't taste overly Koreanized — the flavors feel authentic and the aromas are great!!
• The hall is quite spacious and has a nice atmosphere

If you like Thai food, I recommend this place. Definitely worth a visit~~
