Late lunch, five dishes at a Haeundae Chinese restaurant: Bueokgan
In short
Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is a European-style Chinese restaurant on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan. Arriving for a late lunch right after break time, three of us shared five dishes — seafood jjamppong at 14,000 won, chili ganjajang, poached-egg pork belly ganjajang, shrimp fried rice and paihuangguo (chilled cucumber salad) — and cleared every plate. Emptying a Chinese restaurant table this completely happens maybe once in five visits, so Bueokgan Chinese is worth a return trip with sweet and sour pork added.

Where is Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch?
Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is a Chinese restaurant on the 1st floor at 200 Dalmaji-gil117beon-na-gil, Haeundae-gu, Busan. I came up to Dalmaji Hill in Haeundae. BUUK is read as "bueok." BUUK — today I came to the Chinese restaurant branch.

Haeundae favorite BUUK Chinese restaurant, jjamppong and jjajangmyeon — Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch sits on the 1st floor.

There's parking space, so I parked right away. Curbside parking in front of the restaurant is also possible.
Stopped by Yangsan, stopped by Marine City, then Haeundae. 200 Dalmaji-gil117beon-na-gil, Haeundae-gu, Busan. It's 978m from Jangsan Station Exit 9.

I had work near Dalmaji Hill and came after finishing. Turned out break time was in effect.
May only good things keep happening.
Interior mood and opening hours at Bueokgan Chinese
Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is about 165㎡ (50 pyeong), a spot often visited by families, couples on dates, and groups.

Even the small details in the space, service, and interior are carefully done.
- Daily 11:00–21:00

It was windy, so a spicy jjamppong broth sounded good. If you're coming by bus, take Haeundae-gu Bus 2 or Haeundae-gu Bus 10.

Five dishes for three people and what they cost
We ordered a bit of everything at Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch: seafood jjamppong ₩14,000, chili ganjajang ₩10,000, poached-egg pork belly ganjajang ₩10,000, shrimp fried rice ₩10,000, paihuangguo ₩8,000.
A dish I'd never seen before, paihuangguo (Chinese-style smashed cucumber salad) — cucumbers smashed and tossed with soy sauce, vinegar, and minced garlic, served cold. It adds a refreshing cut to the often-oily Chinese food.

Jachai (preserved mustard tuber) is salty and crunchy, and it pairs well with the richer dishes.

It was piled so high I dug around to see what was underneath. Grabbed a few bites before the other dishes arrived — it was past lunchtime and we were hungry.

I thought the jjajang would taste even better with some spice. It was a lot, so I set a few aside. Ouch, spicy. There was egg soup too.

Which dishes are most popular at Bueokgan Chinese?
Looking at the restaurant's payment data, the most popular dish turns out to be poached-egg pork belly ganjajang. Second place is beef brisket jjamppong, and third is black vinegar sweet and sour pork — worth keeping in mind.
A European-style, emotionally-tuned Chinese restaurant.

Paihuangguo, ₩8,000. 95% water content, rich in vitamins. Said to have anti-cancer effects.

How do the shrimp fried rice and poached-egg pork belly ganjajang taste?

Shrimp fried rice is ₩10,000, so not pricey — an easy order. The rice is fried just right, chewy and satisfying. The plump shrimp are savory and delicious. The jjajang I occasionally tried alongside it added sweetness and nuttiness. It's just one bowl of fried rice, but with three of us splitting it in small portions, we got to taste a bunch of different flavors.

The Haeundae branch of Bueokgan runs a Chinese restaurant, a Western restaurant, and a bakery café all together — the Chinese restaurant is just one part of it.
This one is the poached-egg five-layer-pork ganjajang. Thick five-layer pork belly with a poached egg you break open, which softens the otherwise dry sauce as you eat. Adding crisp cucumber makes it even better.

How big is the seafood jjamppong serving?
Seafood jjamppong, ₩14,000. The bok choy on top of the seafood jjamppong is a deep green that's a pleasure just to look at.

The noodles have real depth of flavor. Twirl them onto your chopsticks and put them in your mouth — it's a pleasure.
There's a lot piled up. Twice the portion of most restaurants. A sprinkle of sesame seeds even shows the care put into it.
I couldn't stop. Not greasy, clean-tasting, not too salty either — just right. Scraped the bowl clean with a spoon.

Worth going back? Sweet and sour pork next time
Finishing a Chinese restaurant meal this thoroughly is something that happens maybe once in five tries... though of course we were hungry too... Bueokgan is a place I want to come back to. And now that I think about it, we skipped sweet and sour pork — got too caught up ordering everything else. Next time, I need to remember the sweet and sour pork.
