Sillim Korean restaurant Yeseoban: braised pollack and hotpot rice
In short
Yeseoban is a Korean restaurant on Munseong-ro in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, near Seowon Station in Sillim, run by two professional cooks. A family meal at Yeseoban brought a small order of Sokcho-style braised skate and one serving of braised pollack with siraegi (dried radish greens) delivered straight from the source, served with hotpot rice and sides of gungchae stem lettuce and lotus root. A mother who is famously hard to please called it delicious and promised to bring her sister, which makes Yeseoban an easy choice for a meal with parents in Sillim.

I went to check out a place that's famous as a Korean restaurant near Sillim!

Yeseoban: a Korean restaurant near Seowon Station in Sillim, visited with my parents
Today I went with my parents to Yeseoban, near Seowon Station in Sillim. My family used to run a restaurant ourselves, so we're kind of picky about food — especially my mom, who doesn't say something's delicious unless it actually is, haha. Seriously, she clamps her mouth shut lol. But this time, after eating at Yeseoban, she said it was delicious.

She even said she wants to bring my aunt next time, which honestly surprised me. When picky family members react like that, I can't help but feel a little proud on the restaurant's behalf. That's basically our family's stamp of approval — when the food is good, we go "this place is the real deal!"

What we ordered at Yeseoban: braised skate and braised pollack with dried radish greens
We ordered the Sokcho-style braised skate (small) and one serving of braised pollack with dried radish greens, sourced straight from the coast. Since we were a group, we wanted to try a bit of everything.

How does Yeseoban's braising sauce taste?
The dishes looked appetizing the moment they arrived, and the first bite confirmed this is a place that really knows how to cook. The sauce, in particular, was excellent. The bean sprouts tossed in the sauce had a nice crunch that paired perfectly with it. The rice cakes mixed into the sauce were tasty too, as was the braised tofu, and the radish had absorbed the seasoning so well that eating it with rice was fantastic.

Yeseoban's hotpot rice was the highlight
I think the sauce makes or breaks a braised dish, and overall the seasoning here was well-balanced, the kind of flavor that keeps you reaching for more rice. Apparently Yeseoban is run by two food researchers, and that care really came through in every dish. But what really impressed me most was the hotpot rice. Honestly, that hotpot rice was a work of art. The rice itself was so good that paired with the braised dishes, a whole bowl disappeared in an instant. If you love hotpot rice, you'll really love this.

Side dishes at Yeseoban: gungchae stem lettuce and lotus root
Every side dish was delicious too. The gungchae (Korean aster greens) was good, the lotus root was good — none of them felt like they were just thrown together; you could taste the handmade care in each one. From the main dishes to the sides to the hotpot rice, this whole meal felt like it was made with real effort.

Most of all, my normally picky mom said it was delicious and even wanted to bring my aunt next time — that alone will make this stick in our family's memory as a genuinely good restaurant.

Is Yeseoban a good Korean restaurant in Sillim to take your parents?
If you're looking for a good Korean restaurant in Sillim and want proper home-style cooking, I'd recommend Yeseoban. It's especially great if you're looking for somewhere to eat with your parents. Between the tasty braised dishes, hotpot rice, and hearty sides, it made for a satisfying meal to bring my parents to. I found it while searching for good Korean food in Sillim, and my family's reaction was so positive that I left in a great mood myself. Next time I want to bring my aunt along too and try other menu items 🌸
