We visited on the weekend, so we ordered the weekend set for two with 6 pieces of sushi. On weekdays there's a wider variety, including lunch and dinner menus, so if you work nearby, I'd also recommend visiting for weekday lunch to enjoy the lunch menu.

We visited Saturday at 1pm and the restaurant was pretty full. We had a reservation, so we didn't have to wait at all. Since weekend visits may involve waiting, I'd recommend booking ahead.

What comes in the weekend set for two, and how does it taste?

Our ordered weekend set for two arrived. It was loaded with udon, unagidong (eel rice bowl), kaisendon (seafood rice bowl), karaage, and 6 pieces of sushi. I started with the udon — the plump noodles paired really well with the savory broth, and it was delicious.

Here's the unagidong, kaisendon, and 6 pieces of sushi. I've had unagidong before, even in Japan, but this was my first time trying kaisendon — a Japanese-style seafood rice bowl topped with an assortment of seafood. They said the sushi combo varies each time; ours came with 2 pieces of white fish, 2 pieces of red fish, 1 futomaki (thick roll), and 1 inari (fried tofu pouch) sushi.

Unagidong (eel rice bowl)

The eel rice bowl had seasoned rice and a rolled omelet tucked inside, so it wasn't plain at all — really tasty. It came with ginger too, and eating it alongside the eel worked great; I cleaned the whole bowl.

Kaisendon (seafood rice bowl)

The kaisendon's rice wasn't heavily seasoned, so you dip it in soy sauce like sushi. Getting to enjoy a variety of seafood in one bowl made it delicious and satisfying.

Karaage (Japanese fried chicken)

The karaage came with a soy-based sauce, giving it a bit of a ganpungi (Korean-style sweet-savory fried chicken) feel. The meat was tender and the outside was crispy — really good. The shrimp chips(?) served alongside were crunchy and delicious too.

The 6 pieces of sushi

We dipped the sushi thoroughly in soy sauce and shared it. There was only one futomaki that day, so... I ended up scarfing it down all by myself, haha. The pieces weren't too big, which made them easy to enjoy without feeling too full.

The restaurant is clean and the food is neatly presented, so it seemed like a popular spot for weekend dates or blind dates too. Beyond the unagidong and kaisendon, there are also omakase and course menus, so you can choose from a wide range of Japanese dishes depending on what you're in the mood for. Unagidong and kaisendon aren't dishes I eat often, but having them again after a while was really delicious.
