Garosugil date bar in Seoul: sashimi and grilled butterfish at Tatsu
In short
Tatsu Robatasho is a robatayaki izakaya on Garosugil in Sinsa, Gangnam, Seoul. As a second stop after a meat-heavy first round, the writer ordered the Tatsu Robata assorted sashimi (55,000 won) and charcoal-grilled Tongyeong butterfish (market price; 35,000 won for a small fish that day) at the bar table facing the coals, and finished with complimentary grilled asparagus. For anyone who likes aged sashimi and gently smoky grilled fish, Tatsu Robatasho is an easy pick for a date or a first meeting.

Tatsu Robatasho

Such a great vibe for a Sinsa izakaya 🙌 Here's my review of Tatsu Robatasho, a Garosugil date bar that feels perfect for a special occasion.

Tatsu Robatasho seating and how to book a bar table
Tatsu Robatasho is a Sinsa izakaya with a bar table that looks straight into the open kitchen, plus hall tables and private rooms. Bar table bookings go through Naver Reservations (based on 2 people), while hall tables and rooms are booked via Catch Table.
There's the bar table with a full view of the open kitchen
Hall table seating is also available

And this Sinsa izakaya, Tatsu Robatasho, even has private rooms. Since you can book through either Naver Reservations or Catch Table, we booked ahead on Naver before visiting.

What we ordered at Tatsu Robatasho for round two
Tatsu Robatasho is apparently a Garosugil robatayaki dining spot that specializes in charcoal-grilled dishes! With a huge range of robatayaki (meat/seafood, skewers, vegetables), sashimi, nabe, fried dishes, cooked dishes, and meals, it's a Sinsa izakaya with a really wide menu to choose from.
Since we'd already had meat at our first stop, we went mostly seafood for this second round at Tatsu Robatasho.
- ✅ Tatsu Robata assorted sashimi (₩55,000)
- ✅ Tongyeong butterfish grilled (market price)

The drink selection was just as wide — sake, tokkuri, shochu, Hwayo, Ilpum Jinro, white wine, red wine, whiskey, champagne, highballs, soju, bottled beer, and draft beer❣️ We decided to keep riding on soju, same as round one.
- ✅ Soju (₩8,000)
- ✅ Zero-sugar cola (₩5,000)

Watching the charcoal grill from the bar table
What I loved about sitting at the bar table was getting to watch all the charcoal grilling happen right in front of us! From our Tongyeong butterfish to the alfonsino they grill for other tables 🐟 The alfonsino seemed to be one of Tatsu Robatasho's most popular robatayaki dishes — orders for it kept coming in.

Tatsu Robata assorted sashimi, 55,000 won: what's on the platter
The Tatsu Robata assorted sashimi is ₩55,000, and the portion was just right for two people to share. It comes with sashimi, hantsuki (squid), sweet shrimp, steamed abalone, and scallops, with a ₩25,000 charge for each extra person.
We had plenty to watch and sip on while waiting, and then the assorted sashimi arrived first. The plating was so neat and tidy.. 🫶 Between the atmosphere and how good the dishes look, it's no wonder this Garosugil bar is popular for blind dates and date nights.

The exact lineup of sashimi, hantsuki, sweet shrimp, steamed abalone, and scallops seemed to change a bit depending on the day. The portion was just right for two people to share (+₩25,000 for each extra person).

Now that the food's here, time for a drink first~~~

The assorted sashimi was properly aged, with a chewy texture and great umami flavor. Both the portion and the composition were satisfying — highly recommend if you love aged sashimi 👍
Grilled Tongyeong butterfish at market price, fire show included
The Tongyeong butterfish is sold at market price, and by the time we visited, only a small one was left, priced at ₩35,000 per fish. Sitting right by the charcoal grill at the bar table meant we got to watch the fire show fairly often.
Sitting right where we could see the charcoal, we caught the fire show multiple times during our stay at Tatsu Robatasho! Once the fish is gently grilled over charcoal, they finish it off with a burst of high heat in the kitchen and a lower flame at the table 🔥

The Tongyeong butterfish is sold at market price, and since only a small fish was left when we visited, we were able to order one for ₩35,000.

The butterfish is fatty, and grilling it gently over charcoal renders out some of that fat, leaving it savory and clean-tasting! They don't season the fish heavily, so dipping it into the salt and fresh wasabi served alongside gave it just the right seasoning.

It's not just meat and fish either — the various grilled vegetables and grilled cuttlefish seemed popular too, with orders for those coming in often 🙌
If only I'd eaten a bit less at round one, I would've ordered the yakitori too.. 😢

The complimentary grilled asparagus at the end
After finishing everything we ordered and getting ready to head out, they brought us grilled asparagus on the house! I'd already been eyeing it when I saw them prep a mixed grilled vegetable order for another table, thinking it looked delicious — and it really was 😋 Good to keep in mind if you're not in the mood for meat or seafood and want to order grilled vegetables instead.
Tatsu Robatasho, a Sinsa izakaya, turned out to be such a great Garosugil date bar — definitely recommend it 🙋♀️
