Weekend friends' lunch at Namyangsan Station restaurant Bueokgan

In short

Bueokgan Restaurant Yangsan Oslo Park Branch is a European-style Western restaurant in the basement of Oslo Park, near Yangsan Busan University Hospital and Namyangsan Station in Yangsan. On a weekend visit with a friend, the order was sweet potato fries, Kung Pao pilaf and shrimp rosé pasta, and the Kung Pao pilaf, topped with an oven-roasted chicken leg with the fat cooked out, was the best of the three. With its exotic arched columns, 2 hours of registered parking and free corkage, Bueokgan made for a satisfying weekend meal.

For the weekend, I headed to Bueokgan Restaurant Yangsan Oslo Park Branch, a brunch café near Yangsan Busan University Hospital, to enjoy good food with a friend in a nice atmosphere.

Bueokgan Restaurant is popular for its exotic interior and European-style cooking, so I went in with high expectations.

After parking in the Yangsan Oslo Park basement, I rode the escalator up and saw the letters BUUK right on the left, so I found it easily without wandering around — a great choice in terms of accessibility for anyone looking for a brunch café near Yangsan Busan University Hospital.

What does Bueokgan Yangsan Oslo Park look like inside?

The first thing that caught my eye the moment I walked in was definitely the interior — the high ceilings combined with the soft curved arch columns gave off such an exotic atmosphere, like stepping into a small restaurant somewhere in Europe. I loved it.

So overall, the comfortable and warm air made it seem perfect as a family dining spot even with kids, and in fact there were a lot of families spending leisurely time there when I visited.

On top of that, they offer free corkage, so I thought I should bring a wine I like next time and enjoy it together.

The three dishes we ordered at Bueokgan

  • Sweet potato fries
  • Kung Pao pilaf
  • Shrimp rosé pasta

That day we ordered freshly fried and crispy-sweet sweet potato fries, Kung Pao pilaf with a perfect combo of crispy-outside-juicy-inside chicken and spicy rice, and shrimp rosé pasta loaded with plump shrimp.

The three ordered dishes laid out on the table

Sweet potato fries

The sweet potato fries that arrived at the table first — honestly, I didn't expect much, but freshly fried and incredibly crispy with that sweet potato sweetness, I kept reaching for more. If you go to Bueokgan, this is a must-order menu item I'd recommend.

Dipping them in ketchup like this was absolutely delicious. Potato fries are common, but sweet potato fries are something you can only get at Bueokgan, so you should definitely try them.

The house-made radish pickles served alongside were crunchy and sweet-and-sour, pairing really well with the other dishes and tasting great.

Kung Pao pilaf with oven-roasted chicken leg

The best of the three dishes was the Kung Pao pilaf — the chicken thigh on top of the pilaf was amazing, roasted in the oven so all the grease was drained out, making it very light while the inside stayed moist.

The pilaf rice underneath was moderately moist and spicy, which suited my taste perfectly.

The combination of spicy pilaf rice and light chicken hit exactly the right note for me.

Shrimp rosé pasta

The sauce soaked richly into the noodles, making it smooth with an excellent savory depth.

In particular, it was generously loaded with big, plump shrimp that gave it a great chewy texture too.
