Yeouido IFC Mall tteokbokki takeout, spoonable broth: Hyeonseonine
In short
Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is a snack restaurant on basement level 2 of IFC Mall in Yeouido, Seoul. The writer packed a set of tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), sundae (blood sausage), fried snacks and gimbap (seaweed rice roll) to go and ended up spooning up the broth at home instead of fishing out only the rice cakes. Hyeonseonine Premium is a good call in Yeouido when tteokbokki is on your mind and you want a little of every snack menu.

I was looking up where to get good tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes) in Yeouido when I came across Hyeonseonine.

I already love tteokbokki, so whenever I find a place with a good reputation I try to check it out at least once. This time I stopped by IFC Mall and picked up a lunch order from Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch. I meant to keep it simple, but I ended up bringing home sundae (Korean blood sausage), fried snacks, and gimbap (seaweed rice roll) along with the tteokbokki — way more filling than I planned.
Where is Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch?
Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is on basement level 2 of IFC Mall. It's a convenient spot for office workers in Yeouido looking for a quick lunch, and easy to stop by during a lunch break.

You can eat at the restaurant, but this time I packed everything to go and ate it comfortably at home.

Tteokbokki really is best eaten slowly, at your own pace.
Tteokbokki broth you keep spooning up
The first thing I opened up was, of course, the Hyeonseonine tteokbokki. The rice cakes were well soaked in sauce, and the first bite left a pretty strong impression.

Sweet and spicy in good balance — not just aggressive heat but a flavor that kept pulling me back for more. And what I liked most was the broth.

Usually with tteokbokki I just fish out the rice cakes and leave the sauce behind, but Hyeonseonine's broth was so good that before I knew it I was spooning it up.

One rice cake, one spoonful of broth, repeat — I couldn't stop. Honestly, this is good enough to call one of Yeouido's best tteokbokki spots.
Fried snacks dipped in the tteokbokki sauce
Tteokbokki without fried snacks would be a bit of a letdown.

Dipping the crispy fried snacks in the tteokbokki sauce was, unsurprisingly, a great match. They're tasty plain, but dipped in that sauce they were even better. Ordering the combo set with multiple menu items made for a pretty solid lunch.
Sundae and gimbap round out the set
Hyeonseonine's sundae had a nice moist texture, and it paired well eaten alongside the tteokbokki.

The gimbap exceeded my expectations too. It was packed with filling, and eating it with the tteokbokki made the whole meal even more filling.

With Korean snack food, there's a special fun in trying a little of several dishes rather than sticking to just one. If it's your first visit, ordering the combo set to sample everything isn't a bad idea.
Hyeonseonine's cook-at-the-table tteokbokki is good too
Another menu item that caught my eye at Hyeonseonine was jeuk-tteok — tteokbokki cooked fresh at the table. The regular tteokbokki was already great, but I've heard a lot of good things about the fresh-boiled version too, so I'm planning to try it in-store next time.
Tteokbokki bubbling away right in front of you has its own charm, different from the takeout version. Next visit, I'll add extra noodles or dumplings to the jeuk-tteok and do it properly.
When a tteokbokki craving hits in Yeouido
After this takeout order, I realized Hyeonseonine isn't just about the tteokbokki — it's a solid all-around spot for sundae, fried snacks, and gimbap too.

What stuck with me most was that broth — the kind you end up eating with a spoon. If you're looking for good tteokbokki in Yeouido, Hyeonseonine is worth a visit.

It works well whether you're grabbing lunch at IFC Mall or just craving a quick snack meal. Next time I want to try the fresh-boiled tteokbokki in-store instead of takeout.
