Comparing two pork bellies at a Gwangalli meat restaurant, Myeongseung
In short
Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi is a Jeju pork restaurant near exit 1 of Gwangan Station, close to Gwangalli in Suyeong, Busan. Two diners split 3 servings of ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly) and 1 serving of black pork belly to compare the two, and added doenjang stew with rice for 3,000 won and naengmyeon (cold noodles). The black pork was nuttier and chewier, but the regular ogyeopsal tasted good enough that ordering only that is the better value.

Hey hey haha, I heard there's a Gwangalli meat restaurant near Gwangalli, Busan with amazingly good pork belly, so I went to check it out! Let me introduce Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi right away~~!

Where is Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi, and what is the dining room like?
Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi is just a short walk from exit 1 of Gwangan Station! It's also close to Gwangalli, so if you're visiting Gwangalli, I recommend stopping by at least once haha.

The inside was pretty spacious! And it had that cozy, local-favorite kind of vibe haha. It seemed like a great spot for groups, traveling families, couples, or even foreigners.
The Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi menu and what two people ordered

Here's the menu board. It's made up of seasoned ribs, raw ribs, ogyeopsal (pork belly), black pork belly, noodles, naengmyeon, and stew. We're pork belly people, so we ordered mostly ogyeopsal over ribs! We were also curious about the difference between black pork belly and regular ogyeopsal, so we split the order haha.
- Ogyeopsal x3 servings
- Black pork belly x1 serving
- Doenjang + rice
- Naengmyeon
Four servings of meat for two people, is this real lol. We're big eaters, so let's give it a shot.

Three servings of ogyeopsal and the side dishes that come with it
First we ordered just the regular ogyeopsal, 3 servings! It came out with king oyster mushrooms alongside the meat.

Isn't the color of the meat amazing haha. Once the grill heats up, they put it on for you.

These are the basic side dishes. There were so many varieties! Every single one was tasty, I almost filled up before even getting properly started on the meat lol.

You just need to let the meat grill until golden brown! They also grilled some garlic on the side for us — you know grilled garlic is a must with samgyeopsal!!

Since it's ogyeopsal, the fatty part gets nicely chewy, and it looked so delicious.

Well-grilled meat is best eaten with pajeolyi (scallion salad). The ogyeopsal was so nutty and chewy, it was seriously delicious!

Gotta have a perilla leaf wrap too~~ Even without piling on extras, just meat, pajeolyi, and sauce in a perilla leaf is already so good.

Black pork ogyeopsal vs regular ogyeopsal: what is the difference?
It was so good we added an order of black pork belly! The black pork belly was definitely nuttier, chewier, and more flavorful. That said, the regular ogyeopsal was still really tasty, so if you're going for value, sticking with just ogyeopsal is a great option haha.

Doenjang and rice for 3,000 won, naengmyeon and simmered myeoljeot
This is the doenjang + rice. You get doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) with rice for just 3,000 won. Total best value haha. The doenjang jjigae was packed with ingredients and had that savory, comforting flavor — total rice thief!

Our mouths were on fire so we ordered naengmyeon too lol. It's like a half-and-half of bibim (spicy mixed) and mul (cold broth) naengmyeon — and you know that kind is seriously good.

The noodle portion was generous and chewy, it was so good. The sauce was seriously the best!

I highly recommend boiling this myeoljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) to go with the meat! It makes everything so much more savory.

If you take part in their review event, you can also get a free beer or soju as a side item, so definitely check it out! If you're looking for a great samgyeopsal spot in Gwangalli, I highly recommend Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi~
