These days the biggest worry at lunchtime is honestly "what should I eat today?" haha 😂 Especially for office workers — lunch hours are fixed, you want something tasty, but you also don't want to wait forever for the food to come out, right?!

So this time I'll tell you about my visit to Gaya Kkeutjip during my work lunch break :)

⏰ Hours: 11:00 - 21:00 🕐 Last order: 20:00 🚗 Parking: 1 hour free at Gaya Parking Lot

Before writing this post, I put together a clip first, so I've attached a video too 📹💕 Watching the video gives you a more vivid look at how the food comes out and the vibe of the place, so check it out along with the post!

Where is Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye, and what is the room like?

Gaya Kkeutjip is a Korean set-menu restaurant on Gaya-ro 181beon-gil in Samgye-dong, Gimhae. The sign says "Gaya Kkeutjip" in big letters, so there's no chance of getting lost~!

I took a shot of the entrance right away before going in 👀

Once inside, the place was bigger than I expected! The tables were spaced out generously too, so it seemed like a fine spot for office workers coming in for lunch.

Overall it had a clean, tidy vibe, so I thought it'd be a comfortable place to bring family too :)

You could catch a glimpse of the kitchen too, and it looked well kept and clean, which was an extra plus.

And there was even a sofa set up in front of the restroom! Kind of a nice touch, don't you think?? There were also baby chairs available, so it seemed like a fine place to visit with kids too 👶🏻💕

Gaya Kkeutjip set menus and the C-set price

Ordering at Gaya Kkeutjip was done through the tablet at the table! No need to call a staff member over — you could check the menu and order right at your seat, which was convenient 👍🏻

Mulling it over while looking at the menu

  • A-set: Gochujang bulgogi (spicy pork stir-fry)
  • B-set: Bossam set (boiled pork wraps)
  • C-set: Steamed ray

All three looked delicious, so I agonized for a while, but what we ended up ordering was the C-set! 🥹💕 The C-set is 23,000 won per person, and it's the set where the steamed ray I was most looking forward to that day comes as the main! The moment I saw the menu, I decided "today it's steamed ray!!!" haha 🤣💕

What banchan come with the Gaya Kkeutjip set?

With the Gaya Kkeutjip C-set, the banchan (side dishes) get set down one by one... oh my 👀💕 Is this the charm of a proper Korean set meal?!

The side dishes started lining up across the table one after another, and just looking at it already felt filling!

Tofu side dish served with the set meal
Light salad side dish
Crunchy kkakdugi side dish

The tofu and salad were light and easy to eat, and the kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) was crunchy and great with rice.

Japchae side dish served with the set meal
Braised lotus root side dish
Plate of stir-fried kimchi side dish

And then japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), lotus root, and stir-fried kimchi too!

Seasoned crab side dish
Plate of seasoned greens
Grilled fish included in the set meal

Then seasoned crab, seasoned greens, and grilled fish showed up too 🐟 Honestly, with this many side dishes coming out, isn't it easy to lose track of how many bowls of rice you've had? 😂

How was the steamed ray, the C-set main?

And finally... the long-awaited main dish arrives!!!! Steamed ray!!!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Just from the look of it, it had proper rice-thief vibes 👀💕 The sauce clung right to the ray, and you could tell just from looking it'd taste great with rice!

Isn't the fun of a Korean set meal picking a little bit of this and that?! I really love this kind of spread 💕

Alright, time to dig into the steamed ray,,,!! Honestly, this was the first time I'd ever eaten steamed ray!!!! Wow, it's really delicious,,,!!!

I pulled off a big piece of ray meat — can you see how it just pulls right off in one clean piece?? 👀

Eating the sauce together with the ray meat, the rice kept disappearing!!!! With all the variety of banchan plus the steamed ray, it really felt like a proper full meal! After eating dry, boring meals at work, having such a delicious lunch gave me energy to power through the afternoon ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

At the end, it wrapped up neatly with plum tea for dessert 🍵 After a Korean set meal, sipping a glass of plum tea left my mouth feeling refreshed, which made for a great finish!

Is Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye worth it for a work lunch?

🌿 Overall thoughts on Gaya Kkeutjip 🌿 I visited during my work lunch break, and I liked that the food came out fast so I could eat at a relaxed pace even on a tight schedule. Above all, it's a great spot for a hearty, satisfying meal with a full spread of neat side dishes plus steamed ray as the main.

And while eating, I thought — this would be a fine place to bring my parents too! 👀💕 If you want a hearty Korean meal in Samgye-dong, Gaya Kkeutjip is the Samgye-dong spot to know! It works fine for a work lunch and also for a meal with parents, so next time I'd love to come back with family and try the other set menus 💕

One-line review Steamed ray, I've claimed you haha
