My boyfriend and I went to Lotte Department Store Gwangbok for lunch on a Monday, haha. We wanted to shop a bit and grab lunch too, so we headed to Daidokoro Lotte Department Store Gwangbok Branch on the 10th floor.

In a cute Japanese-style atmosphere, you can enjoy a generous set meal — a solid pick if you're looking for a Nampo-dong restaurant for a meal.

Where Daidokoro Gwangbok is and what the restaurant feels like

Daidokoro Lotte Department Store Gwangbok Branch is located on the 10th floor of Lotte Department Store in Nampo-dong.

It's right inside the department store attached to Nampo Station, so it was really easy to get to whenever we wanted Japanese food near Nampo Station. When we arrived, a photo zone with cute figurines by the entrance caught my eye right away.

The whole place had a cute Japanese feel, and inside the store there were familiar character figurines and dolls placed here and there — Totoro, Sanrio, Jjanggu, you name it 𐙚( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )

There were so many cute little items around that it was fun just to look at them before eating.

Daidokoro's menu, from two-person sets to single dishes

Daidokoro Lotte Department Store Gwangbok Branch's menu ranges from full set meals to à la carte items and combo sets.

We could each pick our own set, but since we wanted to try a bunch of things together, we chose Set B for two.

Set B for two — karaage set + tonkatsu set + mini menbosha 4pcs + drink

We changed the karaage set's default rice to soy egg rice, and picked a cool blue lemon ade for the drink.

We also wanted something warm and brothy, so we added udon too.

With two set meals plus menbosha and a drink included, it was a great combo for two people to sample a variety of dishes.

What comes with Set B for two at Daidokoro

After a short wait, the dishes started coming out one by one. The set meals didn't just come with the main dish — there were side dishes, soup, rice and even pudding, so the whole table ended up looking pretty generous.

I had the karaage set and my boyfriend had the tonkatsu set. With mini menbosha and udon added on top, the table was completely full.

The portions were hearty too, making it a satisfying lunch at Lotte Department Store Gwangbok.

The karaage set: crispy outside, juicy inside

The dish I had was the karaage (Japanese fried chicken) set. The freshly fried karaage was crispy on the outside and warm inside, exactly the kind of karaage I love.

Of everything we ate that day, the karaage was my favorite (๑ᵔ⤙ᵔ๑)♡ There was a generous portion of cabbage to eat alongside the fried chicken, which was great to snack on in between bites.

The karaage set also came with a mini curry. So instead of just eating karaage on its own, I could pair it with curry too — a nice way to enjoy a few different flavors within a single set.

Soy egg rice with bonito flakes and butter

The soy egg rice I swapped in for the default rice was another thing I loved. It wasn't just egg — it also had bonito flakes and butter mixed in.

The savory butter combined with the distinct aroma of bonito flakes gave it a fragrant, umami-rich flavor. Karaage, then a bite of soy egg rice — the combination worked really well together ✿

I usually love soy egg rice, so I was really glad I switched to it, haha.

The tonkatsu set, served with curry

My boyfriend's tonkatsu (pork cutlet) set also came out looking generous.

The tonkatsu was crispy and warm too, with plenty of cabbage on the side.

The tonkatsu set in particular came with rice and curry as standard. The crispy tonkatsu was delicious on its own, but eating it together with the curry and rice gave it a whole different feel.

Since the karaage set also came with a mini curry, we got to taste karaage, tonkatsu, and curry all in one meal — really nice.

Mini menbosha (shrimp toast), 4 pieces on the side

Set B for two also includes 4 pieces of mini menbosha (deep-fried shrimp paste sandwiched in bread). Bite-sized and fried until crispy, they were great to snack on in between the set meals.

Between the karaage, the tonkatsu, and the menbosha, every fried item we had that day came out warm and crispy — all delicious.

Sipping the cool blue lemon ade alongside all that fried food was a great pairing.

We added one udon on top of Set B for two.

Having warm udon broth in between bites of crispy fried food was really nice.

The set meals were already generous on their own, and adding udon on top meant the two of us were completely stuffed by the end, haha.

Finishing lunch with soft pudding

After we finished eating, we wrapped up the meal with the pudding that came with the set.

From karaage and tonkatsu to soy egg rice, curry, menbosha, and udon, we ate a really hearty meal, and finishing with soft pudding at the end made it a completely satisfying lunch ୧( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )୨

Having dessert come out together with the meal made for a clean, satisfying way to end the meal.

Being inside Lotte Department Store Gwangbok made it convenient to eat before or after shopping, and with such a varied menu, it was a solid choice whenever you're looking for a place to eat in Nampo-dong or near Nampo Station.
