Moshi Moshi Sushi Lotte Department Store Gwangbok

Hi, I'm Lunas 🌙 When I think of a Japanese restaurant that's been a fixture in Nampo-dong for a long time, Moshi Moshi is the first one that comes to mind haha. It's a place I used to stop by often whenever I was shopping at the department store and craving sushi or Japanese food, so I paid it another visit after a while.
Especially when eating out with a kid, I find myself looking for places where the adult and the child can each order what they actually want, rather than places with limited menu choices — and Moshi Moshi turned out to be pretty convenient in that regard. This time I visited with my child and ordered a range of things from the kids' menu to sashimi and sushi, so let me show you the full review 🤍
Where is Moshi Moshi Sushi Lotte Gwangbok, and where do you park?
Moshi Moshi Sushi Lotte Department Store Gwangbok is located on the 10th floor of the main building at 2 Jungang-daero, Jung-gu, Busan. If you're taking the subway, it's within walking distance from Nampo Station on Busan Metro Line 1, so access is pretty good.
If you're driving, you can just use the Lotte Department Store parking lot, so there's no need to stress about parking. Since it's inside the department store, it's also great that you can combine your meal with some shopping before or after ❤

Opening hours and how to book a weekend table
Moshi Moshi Lotte Gwangbok is open from 10:30 am to 9 pm, with last order at 8:10 pm. There's no separate break time, so it was nice being able to visit any time during operating hours.
When there's a wait, you can leave your phone number at the CatchTable sign in front of the store, and reservations are also possible via Naver Reservations or by phone, so you can lock in your preferred time slot in advance. We were planning to visit on a weekend, so I booked through Naver Reservations two days ahead — and slots were filling up faster than I expected. If you're planning a weekend visit with a specific time in mind, I'd recommend booking ahead ⌐(ᐛ )⌐
Here's what the inside of Moshi Moshi Gwangbok looks like. There are plenty of tables, and high chairs are available too, so guests with kids can dine comfortably.
They were also running a Naver receipt review event — reviewers get 2 pieces of shrimp sushi as a service, so that's worth keeping in mind if you visit 😀

What's on the menu at Moshi Moshi Sushi
Looking at the menu, there were way more options than I expected. There were platter sets that come with basic sushi and udon, sets that let you enjoy sashimi and sushi together, and set menus good for sharing with several people. The platter sets in particular looked good — they don't just come with sushi but also udon, tempura, salad and tofu salad, so they seemed like a great pick if you want to eat a bit of everything.

There are also individual sushi pieces available, so you can add on your favorites.
Besides sushi, there are noodle dishes like udon and soba, plus bibimbap, rice bowls, pork cutlet and other side dishes — so even if you come with a friend who isn't a big sushi fan, choosing a menu shouldn't be hard 🙂
They also have drinks and alcohol, so it's great for pairing with Japanese food if you visit in the evening (´▽\`ʃ♡ƪ)
What we ordered: kids' set, sushi platter and sashimi platter
What we ordered was the pork cutlet + mini udon kids' menu, the sashimi platter, and the sushi platter. For the sashimi platter, we paid extra to upgrade to a better tier ❤
Our order arrived 😋 It was such a generous spread that the table was completely full..⭐

The kids' pork cutlet and mini udon set
First up, my kid's pork cutlet + mini udon set! They also gave us extra plates for portioning out the food, which was a nice touch (full marks for thoughtfulness >_<)

The kids' menu comes with pork cutlet, rice, salad and mini udon all together, making it a pretty solid full meal for a child. It was exactly the combination my kid loves, so I liked it even more haha.

The sushi platter at Moshi Moshi Sushi
The sushi platter my husband ordered is Moshi Moshi's best-selling menu, letting you try a variety of sushi types at once — a solid, easy recommendation for anyone who likes sushi.

✔ The sushi platter is made up of 8 pieces of sushi + 3 pieces of tempura + udon + vegetable salad + tofu salad.
The upgraded sashimi platter
The sashimi platter I ordered 💓 I upgraded it from the basic tier to a better one, and I felt it suited people like me who love sashimi and want to eat a little bit of many things.
The sashimi platter comes with sashimi, sushi, tempura, udon, salad, and tofu salad together. They also gave us a separate soy sauce for dipping the sashimi.
Proper Japanese food after a long while ❤ Wrapping up the weekend with a generous spread 😋
How the kids' pork cutlet and mini udon tasted
The pork cutlet in the kids' menu came out fried to a nice golden brown — crisp on the outside, soft on the inside — and it was cut into pieces that were easy for my kid to eat, which was convenient. The cutlet sauce also came on the side, good for dipping, and with rice and salad included, it was more than enough as a kid's meal.
Best of all, my kid loves udon, so having the mini udon alongside the cutlet meant they could alternate between the two. Figuring out what a kid should eat at a Japanese restaurant is always a bit of a puzzle, so being able to order a separate kids' menu like this made visiting with a child quite convenient :-)

Sashimi and its dedicated soy sauce
My sashimi platter came with sashimi sliced cleanly, which looked great, and it tasted clean with no fishy flavor at all.

The salmon was soft and nutty, and the tuna types had a chewy texture, so it was fun trying one of each kind. And what I really liked while eating the sashimi was the dedicated soy sauce for it! It was clearly different from the soy sauce I usually eat — not just salty but with real umami depth — and it paired really well with the sashimi 👍
How were the sushi, tempura and udon?
Since the sashimi was so good, the sushi goes without saying! The fish draped over the rice was longer than the rice itself, which is exactly the sushi style I like.

Salmon, smoked salmon, eel, tuna, yukhoe (raw beef), futomaki and more — it was hard to say which sushi was the tastiest because they were all genuinely delicious. Since each one had a different flavor, I didn't get tired of it and ended up eating more than usual haha.
The tempura that came as a side was also fried up nice and crisp, with shrimp and vegetable tempura to enjoy together. Eating it right when it came out, the batter was crisp and nutty — perfect to pop one in between bites of sushi or sashimi 🤍
The udon had tempura crumbs mixed into the warm broth, so the broth tasted nutty yet clean. Eating sushi nonstop can get a bit heavy, but pairing it with the warm udon broth and the salad made for a pretty good combination overall.
My husband's sushi platter came with a wide variety of sushi types, letting us try white fish, salmon, shrimp, egg and more all at once. He personally said the salmon sushi was soft and nutty and delicious, and the white fish sushi was clean-tasting and good haha. The rice portion on the sushi wasn't too much either, so it wasn't heavy when eaten alongside sashimi, and switching between different sushi types kept it from getting boring (≧∇≦)ノ
This set also comes with udon, tempura and salad, so the meal felt much fuller than just eating sushi alone. He said the salad especially was great for cleansing the palate between bites, making it easier to keep eating sushi haha.
Who is Moshi Moshi Sushi Gwangbok best for?
Overall, eating through everything, I felt Moshi Moshi's biggest strength isn't just being a place to go for sushi alone, but being able to choose from a variety of Japanese dishes all in one spot. Adults can have sashimi or sushi while the kid has cutlet and udon, which made it comfortable as a family meal out.
Since there's such a wide range of menu options, it was also nice that a sushi lover and someone who isn't can visit together and each pick what they want. If you're craving sushi or Japanese food in Nampo-dong, or looking for a lunch spot while shopping at Lotte Department Store Gwangbok, I'd recommend Moshi Moshi Gwangbok (´▽\`ʃ♡ƪ)
