Yeongju Gopchang Jeongol Masan Daetgeori Main Branch: the basics

Yeongju Gopchang Jeongol in Haeun-dong is open daily from 16:30 to 00:30, with last order at 23:30. There's no dedicated parking lot, so you'll need to park on a nearby street, and there's one baby chair available.

Today I brought my baby and a friend to Yeongju Gopchang Jeongol, the Daetgeori gopchang hotpot and seokgalbi spot I've now visited N times. Even my friend, who's super picky about food, admitted this place is delicious! Honestly, whoever you bring here says the same thing. Here's my write-up after another great meal!

Where is Yeongju Gopchang Jeongol, and can you park?

This is the exterior of Yeongju Gopchang Jeongol, tucked behind Daetgeori. Since it's in Daetgeori, parking is a bit of a hassle...( ᵕ - ᵕ̩̩ ) There's no separate lot, so I parked on a nearby street and walked in.

Here's the interior of this Daetgeori galbi favorite. It's bigger inside than it looks from outside! I came on a weekday evening and there were quite a few customers. Since it's near the university, I always see a lot of college students here too haha. Of course, it's also great for family visits!

Menu and couple set prices at Yeongju Gopchang Jeongol

Here's the menu at this favorite behind Daetgeori. They have both gopchang jeongol (tripe hotpot) and seokgalbi (grilled short rib), and both are so good that I strongly recommend ordering the couple set so you get to try both ~♥ Alcohol was priced averagely at 5,000 won.

There's a baby chair ready, so you can visit comfortably with a baby too haha. So grateful my baby stayed calm and good today

Side dishes and muksabal (chilled acorn jelly soup)

This is the basic table setting at this favorite behind Daetgeori. The sujebi (hand-torn dough) and sundae (blood sausage) are meant to go into the gopchang jeongol that comes later. The muksabal (acorn jelly in cold broth) was refreshing and delicious too, so I refilled it once haha.

Does the gopchang hotpot smell gamey?

And there it is! The gopchang jeongol has arrived. This broth is seriously amazing... My friend, who's super sensitive to the gamey smell in tripe, ate it up with zero complaints about any smell! Looking at these photos makes me want to eat it again.

Once the gopchang jeongol arrives, add in the sundae and sujebi noodles they gave you earlier and simmer for about 5 more minutes before eating. Bubbling away ~ (๑•̀༚•́)ฅ

Why the seokgalbi (grilled short rib) is worth ordering

After the gopchang jeongol comes the seokgalbi, and you absolutely have to try this too ~ It's so tender and sweet, seriously delicious.(*ૂ❛ᴗ❛*ૂ) I can't forget this taste......

Eaten with the ssammu (pickled radish wrap) that comes alongside, it's absolutely amazing! The taste is different from other places' seokgalbi ~ To my taste, this is the best seokgalbi around!!>..< The texture is insane...

That rich, deep broth... Korean beef tripe, beef, mushrooms, sujebi noodles, sundae, plump glass noodles — there's so much to eat and I love it♥ Great with a bowl of rice, and also perfect as a drinking snack! My husband, after coming here with me the first time, took his own friends here later and apparently drank the night away haha.

For our meal today, instead of plain rice, I tried the self-fried rice option. Frying up two orders!

Scoop out just the right amount of broth, then mix and fry it all together ~

Since the gopchang jeongol itself is so tasty, the fried rice turned out delicious too haha. Next time I'm ordering a bowl of rice AND the fried rice — promise to myself, from your resident foodie ..★

Is Yeongju Gopchang Jeongol worth it for dinner or drinks in Daetgeori?

If you're looking for a Daetgeori restaurant or a Daetgeori drinking spot ~!! I seriously, highly recommend this place... It's so, so good haha. Whoever you bring here will probably say the same?! Hahahaha
