A leisurely morning brunch in Gwangalli

I visited Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch, where you can enjoy a relaxed brunch from early in the morning in Gwangalli. I genuinely adore this place, so I drop by now and then whenever I want to enjoy a quiet weekday morning and something delicious 😃

I have been visiting Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch from not long after it opened, and it received a 2026 Blue Ribbon as soon as it opened! Wow, applause applause!

It is a café built around Australian-style brunch. Maybe that is why there were foreign couples there from early in the morning, too! Since it is somewhere you can have brunch relatively early in Gwangalli, it is worth putting on your list if you are travelling and planning breakfast or a leisurely morning meal.

Ordering The Famous Benny with salmon and a long black

Here is the Famous Benny menu. I ordered The Famous Benny (salmon) and an iced long black. I also often order the French toast, and the French toast is seriously delicious too!

First and second floors, with a great spot for solo time

There are a few tables on the first floor too, so you can use that floor if the second floor is full.

The second floor feels cozier and more comfortable. Once you order and choose a seat, a staff member brings the food right to your table. Most places give you a buzzer and have you pick it up yourself, but at Famous Benny the staff bring it over, and they say you can simply leave your dishes when you are done and they will clear them away.

It is great with a partner, friends, or family, but it is also really nice for spending time alone at an easy pace. When I do not have work or any particular plans, I often come to Gwangalli by myself for a bit of fresh air, brunch, and coffee. It feels peaceful and cozy, which is why I personally love it so much 😃 Every seat has an outlet, so it is also great for spending time on laptop work or reading.

A generous salmon Benny with croissant and poached egg

I ordered the signature The Famous Benny with salmon. This brunch comes with a croissant, poached egg, avocado, macadamias, onion chips, sabayon sauce, and more. With the poached egg and all the toppings piled onto a crisp toasted croissant, it looked wonderfully generous from the start!

Taste matters for brunch, of course, but when food arrives looking pretty, you want to take lots of photos before you even eat, and it puts you in a good mood too. 🫶 My favourite bread, a croissant, was joined by a soft poached egg, salmon, and avocado, dialing up the nuttiness and flavour. Then the macadamias crunch here and there, adding even more nuttiness and texture.

Sabayon sauce and a full-bodied iced long black

I think the real kick in this dish might be the sabayon sauce. It was so creamy and delicious. At first it tasted a little like cheddar cheese sauce to me, but anyway, it paired incredibly well with everything and was so good!

And coffee is essential with brunch...! I ordered an iced long black, and it had such a deep, full body with its aroma rising up. To be able to taste that much weight even over ice!! Such an impressive coffee...!!

Famous Benny uses Dukes Coffee beans, so coffee lovers can enjoy a truly delicious cup here! 👍

Famous Benny has an atmosphere and space where visiting alone never feels awkward, and it is close to Gwangalli Beach, making it a great stop before or after a walk along the shore 😃 If it is your first visit, The Famous Benny, the signature dish recommended by the café itself, is a good choice. For two people, The Famous Benny plus French toast is a wonderful combination too. I have ordered these dishes many times, so I can vouch for both the flavour and the presentation! Haha. A day spent enjoying a relaxed weekday morning with delicious food and a cup of coffee! ❤️
