Gijang Korean restaurant near IKEA, 3pm beef pancake cockle bibimbap

If you're wandering around IKEA and wondering what to eat, I'd recommend Kkomak Hansang. I think a cockle set meal is perfect for a family meal out with your parents!!

They help with parking too~~ the dining room is clean and the food is delicious. The table came out packed full and I ate so well, so I want to recommend this place haha.

The dining room after 3pm

I think I visited a bit after 3pm! The dining room was clean overall, so it felt like a good spot for a family meal. The owner and staff were also super friendly haha.

Four set menus — what to pick on your first visit

There are four types of set menu available: dried corvina, beef pancake and cockle bibimbap, cockle bibimbap, and cockle salad. You have to order one menu per person, and sets can be ordered for 2 or more people. I was torn between the dried corvina but ended up ordering the beef pancake and cockle bibimbap. If you order that, you get to try beef pancake, cockle bibimbap, cockle salad, and cockle sauce all together. You can try everything except the dried corvina~ If it's your first visit, I recommend the beef pancake and cockle bibimbap ⭐

There's also an à la carte menu available separately, which you can order as an add-on after ordering a set. Ordering the beef pancake and cockle bibimbap lets you try everything except the dried corvina!! If you're visiting with 3–4 people, adding the dried corvina on top would be great too.

A table loaded so full it could break

The dish I ordered came out after just a short wait, and the table was truly packed full to the point the legs might break!!

You can see the cockle bibimbap piled high with cockles too, right!? The owner told us just to mix the rice and cockles well and eat!!

The side dishes are really generous too haha. Every single side was delicious, from the eggplant sweet and sour to the cockle salad to the cockle sauce. It's not an overly bold or spicy flavor but a clean, light taste, so I ate so happily. Bring your parents here~ they'll be satisfied!!

How big are the portions?

The portions at Kkomak Hansang are genuinely huge haha. I didn't realize how much food there'd be and almost ordered extra at the start — good thing I didn't, because it would've been way too much haha. Mixing the cockles into the seasoned rice makes it so delicious. Not an intense flavor at all, just a clean taste with real umami!!

How the cockles are prepped

There isn't just a little bit of cockle — it's packed full!! I heard they clean each cockle by hand individually, and sure enough, there wasn't a single bite of sand or grit anywhere — completely clean. You know that feeling when you bite into something gritty while eating cockles.. so unpleasant. Kkomak Hansang had absolutely none of that!! haha

Seaweed soup

The seaweed soup is exactly my style. It's a rich broth with plenty of seaweed and fish added in too. The fish is soft flesh with not a single bone, so it went down great alongside the seaweed.

Beef pancake

Beef pancake (yukjeon). I came out today thinking 'I want beef' haha and the beef pancake was so, so good~ Pair it with the green onion salad that came alongside it — a perfect combo!

Pollack pancake

The pollack pancake (myeongtaejeon) was mild and boneless too, so it was really easy to eat haha. Pair it with the cockle salad for a great match on the table 💛 Eating cockles again after a while, I found myself thinking — wow, have cockles always been this delicious?~~!!

Putting cockle bibimbap and cockle salad onto a perilla leaf together makes a sweet-and-tangy combo that's great 💛

They said they've launched lunch boxes too! Might have to buy one next time haha. Kkomak Hansang Gijang Main Branch!? Clean dining room, clean food overall!
