Gijang Korean restaurant near Oshiria with mudflat-ceiling design
In short
Kkomak Hansang Gijang Main Branch is a cockle-focused Korean restaurant on the 1st floor of Morning City near Oshiria in Gijang, Busan. After a stroll around Oshiria, the writer ordered cockle bibimbap and a beef pancake set, which came with plenty of side dishes like fried eggplant, acorn jelly, and hijiki seaweed, plus fish seaweed soup, all under a ceiling designed to evoke a mudflat. It's a solid pick in Gijang when you want a hearty rice meal with lots of banchan rather than just one dish.

I went on an outing toward Oshiria in Gijang and wanted a solid, filling meal, so I stopped by Kkomak Hansang. Oshiria has all kinds of restaurants, but that day I was craving Gijang-style Korean food — rice and banchan (side dishes) done properly — rather than anything too spicy or heavy. This place serves a cockle-centered full-table meal, so I was curious, and once I saw the menu had everything from cockle bibimbap to beef pancake, I picked it right away.

Kkomak Hansang

Wide windows and relaxed seating: the vibe inside
Walking in, the interior was bigger than I expected, and the tables were spaced generously. There were enough seats on one side to fit a big group, so it seemed like a good spot for a family meal or dining with several people together.
What I liked most was the wide windows — the space never felt cramped, more open and bright. The natural light coming through made the whole meal feel comfortable, and combined with the spacious layout, it was a nice, relaxed place to enjoy Korean food.

A ceiling designed like a mudflat
One other thing that caught my eye inside: cockles always bring mudflats to mind, right? Well, here, the ceiling is decorated to evoke exactly that, so just looking at the interior you get the sense — oh, we're here for the cockle menu. It was a fun surprise how the mood of the space connected naturally to the food before I'd even eaten anything. It wasn't just a generic Korean restaurant feel — they clearly built the cockle theme right into the interior, which I thought was a nice touch.

Menu and how to order
You order via kiosk here.

The menu has a good range — cockles, bibimbap, vinegared cockle salad, dried yellow corvina, and more. What we ordered that day was the cockle bibimbap and the beef pancake set. Even the names sounded hearty, so I was excited before the food even arrived.

The basic side dishes on the table
Fried eggplant
Fish pancake, perilla leaves, braised cockles
Acorn jelly, braised quail eggs

There was a wide variety of basic banchan — zucchini, bean sprouts, salad, lotus root, braised onion, hijiki seaweed, and more. And the fish seaweed soup came out in a big bowl, generously filled.

And once the main dishes — cockle bibimbap and beef pancake — arrived, the table was completely full. Korean food really is fun this way, with lots of little side dishes to go with the main.

How was the cockle bibimbap?
The cockle bibimbap had that chewy cockle texture still intact, and it mixed really well with the rice. There were plenty of cockles in it, so it felt like actually eating cockles rather than just rice with a hint of them.
The seasoning wasn't too heavy once mixed into the rice, either, which made it easy to eat alongside the other side dishes.

Vinegared cockle salad, beef pancake, and perilla-leaf wraps
The vinegared cockle salad had that chewy cockle texture with a tangy-sweet, savory seasoning that really woke up my appetite. The sauce coated the cockles evenly, so the more I chewed, the more that distinct nutty cockle flavor came through, with a hint of spice that worked well alongside the rice.
It went well eaten together with the beef pancake.
The vinegared cockle salad was good on its own, but wrapping it in a perilla leaf gave it a whole different character. The chewy cockles combined with the fragrant, crisp perilla leaf made each bite feel richer. The cockles' savory depth paired better with the perilla leaf's fragrance than I expected — this wrap combination was really tasty.

A good meal after a day out at Oshiria?
At the entrance they also sell ice cream and drinks for kids. This place fit well when I wanted a hearty rice meal with lots of side dishes rather than just one dish. If you're looking for a Gijang restaurant to visit after shopping or a walk around Oshiria, Kkomak Hansang — with its clean, filling take on Gijang-style Korean food — could be a good choice 👍
