Korean restaurant in Pyeongchon with baby chairs for families: Hantiok

I was shopping at Lotte Department Store Pyeongchon and got a craving for proper Korean food, so I stopped by Hantiok! I didn't expect much since it's a restaurant inside a department store, but the food turned out way better than I thought — I'd genuinely go back!!!! 👍🏻

If you're looking for a Korean restaurant to take your parents to around Beomgye or Pyeongchon, or a filling meal after shopping at Lotte Department Store Pyeongchon, I recommend Hantiok! Friendly service, clean space, and delicious food — all three boxes checked. Haven't been this happy with a Korean restaurant in a while 🤍

Where is Hantiok in Lotte Department Store Pyeongchon, and where do you park?

📍 Basement level 1, Lotte Department Store Pyeongchon Branch, 180 Simindae-ro, Dongan-gu, Anyang, Gyeonggi, South Korea (this is the department store basement, not the food court basement!) 🚗 Lotte Department Store parking is available — just navigate to Lotte Department Store. It opens at 10:30 AM.

Hantiok is on the basement level of Lotte Department Store, which connects directly to Beomgye Station, so accessibility is really really really good!

Being inside a department store, the exterior feels extra clean!! It's located among several other restaurants in the basement level 1 food area, but the sign really stands out so you can find it quickly~!~! The food came out really fast too. I went in hungry, and there was almost no wait, which was great haha

Is Hantiok good with kids? Seating and baby chairs

There are plenty of tables, so it seems like a good spot to stop by with family or a partner on a weekend outing~

What is on the menu at Hantiok

Just looking at the menu, it's the kind of Korean food that sits easy on your stomach! From Andong guksi (noodles) and gukbap (soup with rice) to pork bossam, beef suyuk (boiled meat), jeyuk (spicy stir-fried pork), and dumplings — a solid lineup. And apparently the Andong guksi, yangji gukbap, and seolleongtang all have clear broths, so they seem good for kids too :) The place was actually packed with families!!

And the side dishes here are delicious from the start… I care about the main dish, but I also secretly love a Korean restaurant with great banchan (side dishes), and this place nailed it from the first bite. The pickled perilla leaves were totally my style!

What comes in the bossam set for two?

We ordered the bossam set for two~ The bossam set at Hantiok Lotte Department Store Pyeongchon Branch comes with salad, dumplings, bossam, and a choice of gukbap or guksi — quite generous! If you want to try a bit of everything like we did, this is a great choice :)

The perilla leaf pickles and gungchae (aster stem) pickles that came as side dishes were completely great with meat and rice 👍 We started with the appetite-boosting salad~ Not sure what the sauce was, but it was delicious!! Crunchy and cut through the richness nicely between bites of meat!

Pork bossam and dried radish strips at Hantiok

And then the main dish — pork bossam (boiled pork wraps) and dried radish strips!

The fat-to-meat ratio was just right and tender, so it was good either eaten alone with the radish strips or wrapped in lettuce!

The meat was tender and the seasoning was tasty, and it paired really well with the gukbap. We also tried the Andong gukbap that came with the bossam set~

Hanwoo ugeoji gukbap and Andong gukbap compared

Of everything I ate that day, the hanwoo (Korean beef) ugeoji gukbap (napa cabbage soup with rice) was my favorite. There's a subtle perilla seed aroma in the ugeoji gukbap, and the broth felt both nutty and hearty!

There was plenty of ugeoji (dried napa cabbage leaves) in it, so mixing rice into it made for a full bowl instantly. The Andong gukbap had a clean, refreshing broth that made the rice go down easily haha. It paired well with dumplings and bossam too. The ugeoji and bean sprouts had a nice chewy bite, and the meat pieces were seriously chunky.

How big is the Andong guksi noodle portion?

And then the Andong guksi! Andong guksi is noodles in a meat broth, and the soup has a really nutty, clean flavor. I personally love this style of meat-broth noodles, so I enjoyed it a lot.

I thought the portion would be small, but it turned out to be more than I expected, so I ate quite filling.

The broth was delicious and the noodles were generous, so it seemed like it would be plenty filling even as a standalone dish.

Bossam, pickles, kimchi, and dried radish strips all wrapped together — pure bliss 💚 Everything was clean and delicious overall that day, so I'm definitely coming back when I'm at Lotte Department Store Pyeongchon!

Wrapped up with my beloved gungchae pickles 🤤 — so crunchy and delicious. They gave us plenty of lettuce for wraps too, so I ate well until the very end :) And the dumplings were bigger than expected haha! The menu didn't even say 'king dumplings,' but they were seriously king-sized lol. Eating one alongside the gukbap or guksi worked really well together.

Is Hantiok Pyeongchon worth it? Final verdict

The restaurant was clean and the staff were kind, so I felt good the whole meal. And since the food came out so quickly overall, it seems like a great option for a meal in the middle of shopping at the department store. If you love Korean food, try the Andong guksi or the hanwoo ugeoji gukbap! A great Korean restaurant near Beomgye Station.

Overall it was comforting, easy-to-eat Korean food. I usually can't finish a full bowl of rice, but I finished everything that day...haha

This was actually our first time ever visiting Lotte Department Store Pyeongchon, and thanks to Hantiok, our first visit is going to be a good memory!
