Gangseo seafood restaurant for abundant mulhoe and abalone: Suseong Susan
In short
Suseong Susan is a sashimi and mulhoe restaurant in Gangseo, Busan. The three-kind assorted mulhoe comes with three kinds of sashimi, abalone, noodles, and rice for a cool, filling meal. Verdict: a generous mulhoe spread when you want plenty of sashimi.

I visited Suseong Susan because I was craving a cool, generous meal around Myeongji in Busan. Suseong Susan is a sashimi and mulhoe (cold raw-fish soup) specialist in Sinho-dong, Gangseo-gu, Busan, also serving meal dishes such as hoe bibimbap (sashimi mixed rice) and jeonbokjuk (abalone porridge).

There were especially many kinds of mulhoe, so I paused for a moment over what to choose. In the end, I ordered the three-kind assorted mulhoe that day.

A generous spread of three-kind assorted mulhoe
As soon as the three-kind assorted mulhoe arrived, the generous spread caught my eye before anything else. A large bowl was filled generously with mulhoe and vegetables, while three kinds of sashimi and abalone came separately so I could add them however I liked.

Since there was more than one kind of sashimi, it was fun choosing what to eat, and having abalone too made the whole set feel really substantial.

Mixing the sashimi and vegetables evenly into the cool mulhoe broth brought together a tangy flavor and savory depth really nicely. It was just the thing for a hot day.

Add noodles, then mix in rice
You can’t leave out adding somyeon (thin wheat noodles) when you eat mulhoe, right? I liked that the noodles and rice were served from the start. There was no need to order extra noodles or ask for rice separately, which was convenient.
I first had plenty of the sashimi and vegetables in the mulhoe, then added the somyeon halfway through and slurped it up. The chewy noodles in the cool mulhoe made for another delicious way to enjoy it.
Then, to finish, I mixed rice into the remaining mulhoe! Sashimi, noodles, and rice—it felt like I got to enjoy this one dish properly and fully! There was already lots of sashimi, and with the noodles and rice too, the portion was truly generous and left me nicely full.
Side dishes and warm seaweed soup, too
It wasn’t just the mulhoe on its own; banchan (Korean side dishes) came with it as well. The side dishes were neatly prepared, making them nice to nibble on alongside the mulhoe.

Warm miyeokguk (seaweed soup) came out too, and a spoonful of warm broth between bites of cool mulhoe paired surprisingly well. Having the side dishes and seaweed soup along with the mulhoe made it feel even more filling as a full meal.

A great place for a neat, satisfying meal
Suseong Susan felt like a good fit when I wanted a satisfying meal centered on fresh sashimi rather than lots of elaborate dishes. The mulhoe in particular had a generous amount of sashimi, so I came away feeling like I’d eaten well.

At first, I thought I would finish one bowl of mulhoe quickly, but there was plenty of sashimi and a good overall portion. Eating slowly, I ended up incredibly full. Mulhoe tastes good, of course, but places that are generous with the sashimi are even more satisfying! The abalone added different textures too, and the bowl alone was quite filling.
When I mixed the sashimi and vegetables evenly into the mulhoe broth, the seasoning soaked into the ingredients well, so it stayed delicious from the first bite to the last. Hot weather can make you lose your appetite, but this cool, tangy mulhoe kept me reaching for more. Best of all, everything needed for a meal was thoughtfully included in one spread, so I thought it would be nice for families or groups to visit and share.

If I visit again, I want to order the hoe bibimbap and see how it differs from the mulhoe. If you’re looking for mulhoe or hoe bibimbap near Myeongji, I think Suseong Susan in Sinho-dong is worth stopping by 🤍
