Spicy octopus & pork intestine stir-fry at a Suyeong, Busan bar
In short
Buheongsanjang Busan Suyeong branch is a Korean-style izakaya tucked in an alley near Suyeong Station in Busan. On a second visit, the writer ordered the spicy octopus and daechang (grilled pork intestine) stir-fry (₩33,000), which starts as a dry stir-fry but turns into a rich, shallow broth as it simmers with bean sprout stock and daechang fat. Paired with green onion kimchi and spicy sauce, it's a perfect match for soju.

A Korean-style izakaya with atmosphere, tucked in a Suyeong Station alley
I went back to Buheongsanjang Busan Suyeong branch (부엉이산장 부산수영점), a Korean-style izakaya with real character, in a quiet alley near Suyeong Station in Busan!
With soft lighting and wood interior, Buheongsanjang is great for dates or solo drinking, small get-togethers, and thanks to a spacious area that seats up to 15 people, it's also a great local pick for office dinners for Centum/Suyeong workers.

Today's order: spicy octopus & daechang stir-fry (₩33,000)
Last time I visited, I really enjoyed the spicy, tangy gopdoritang (spicy chicken gizzard stew), so this time I wanted to try something new and ordered the 'spicy octopus & daechang stir-fry.'
The pork jowl slices looked good too, and the beef pancake seems like the perfect match for makgeolli (rice wine)...! Guess I'll have to come back haha. I was so curious about that Apgujeong-style makgeolli...

Basic side dishes & table setting
The basic side dishes are savory soybean chips and tangy pickles to whet your appetite. You know how these soybean chips just keep pulling your hand back, right? Haha.

So how spicy is it?
Heat level: the staff told me it's a bit spicier than Buldak fire noodles, and the first bite was impressively spicy — like, 'whoa, this is no joke haha.' But here's the twist: later on, this broth transforms into something rich and deep-flavored, haha.
Side dish: it comes with a tangy, spicy green onion kimchi that pairs perfectly with the sauce. My friend liked this green onion kimchi so much she said she wanted to take it home, haha.

What's in it
It's packed with plump daechang, chewy octopus, crunchy bean sprouts and minari (water dropwort), plus a serving of tteokguk-tteok (sliced rice cake). I noticed the gopdoritang I had last time also came topped with rice cake — seems like Buheongsanjang really has a thing for rice cake, haha.

The flavor changes as it simmers
When it first arrives, it's a dry stir-fry with no broth. As you turn on the burner and let it simmer, the bean sprout stock and the daechang's savory fat blend together and create a shallow, rich broth.

The longer it simmers, the richer that broth gets — it's the real deal! It's the ultimate side dish that makes you crave soju... how do you resist soju with this? I wanted to try makgeolli too, but this dish just screamed soju to me, so I gave up on that idea. The chewy rice cake also fills you up with carbs perfectly.

A thoughtful touch of service
While eating the spicy dish, I ordered a cold Coke, and they thoughtfully brought me a glass of ice too, so I could enjoy it properly clean and refreshing.

Final thoughts
This is more than just a bar — it's a space where you can unwind your day with warm food and a good atmosphere. From the pork jowl to the cheese potato pancake, the gopdoritang, and now this spicy octopus & daechang stir-fry, nothing here falls short!
If you're looking for a bar with great atmosphere near Suyeong Station, or a Korean-style spot with delicious drinking snacks, I highly recommend Buheongsanjang Busan Suyeong branch.
Would I go back: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (100%)
