Samgye, Gimhae set-menu Korean restaurant for three: Gaya Kkeutjip
In short
Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye is a hanjeongsik (Korean set-menu) restaurant on Gaya-ro 181beon-gil in Samgye, Gimhae, serving gochujang bulgogi, gaori-jjim (steamed ray) and bossam set meals. The writer visited with her mother and ordered the Kkeutjip steamed ray set for three at 23,000 won per person, 69,000 won in total, and found the hearth-grilled mackerel moist with no fishy smell and the steamed ray as big as a large a la carte portion. With one hour of parking supported in the lot beside the restaurant, Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye works well for family meals and company dinners.

I already knew there was a decent hanjeongsik (Korean full-course) place in Samgye, but since I needed to go with my hanjeongsik-loving mom, I kept putting it off — until our schedules finally aligned and I got to visit Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye 😁

Parking and how Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye looks from outside
There's a big parking lot right next to Gaya Kkeutjip — park there and you get 1 hour supported, so no worries about parking~

It's a brick-stacked exterior — funny how something that used to feel dated now looks upscale to me~

It's a sleek standalone building that looks classy, great for bringing someone along or for hosting business meetings and gatherings.

You can wait comfortably with the Tabling app too~ 👍
What is the seating like inside Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye?

It was almost fully booked, but maybe because we arrived a bit late, seats kept opening up here and there right on cue. 👏
This kind of Korean-style ambiance is elegant, and the mood is really nice~♡

With tables for 4, 6, and 8 people, it's easy to seat groups of any size.

There are also booth-style seats good for 2–4 people. We decided to sit here~

The phrase "a table of tonic drawn from nature" made me even more curious what kind of spread we'd get. 😆

Oh, a hearth! I wondered why there was one, and it turns out this hearth is used to grill the mackerel that comes with the meal. 👀

This looked like pu-erh tea — after the meal I was so full I couldn't really tell what it tasted like, I just drank it thinking, warm and healthy tea, and enjoyed it.
Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye menu and what we ordered

The menu is broadly divided into gochujang bulgogi set, ray stew (gaori-jjim) set, and bossam set — we decided to try the ray stew set since none of us had had it before. 😋
🍚 What I ordered 🥢 Kkeutjip ray stew set x 3 = ₩23,000 Total ₩69,000
What comes with the Kkeutjip steamed ray set for three

A generous table laid out quickly~ japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), zucchini namul, gungchae deulkkae namul (sesame greens), kimchi-jjim, seasoned crab, radish kimchi, yeolmu kimchi — every single dish showed care from how it looked alone.

Right after that came the tofu salad and pan-fried tofu, plated neatly and prettily too. 👏 I tried the pan-fried tofu first — warm and nutty, and paired with the kimchi-jjim side dish it was so good I ended up eating almost all of it. 😅

Hearth-grilled mackerel at Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye
The hearth-grilled mackerel had a great big size that I liked right away — maybe because the fish was such good quality, there was zero fishy smell, and the flesh was completely moist and tender, so delicious! 👏 Best grilled fish I've had recently. 👍 I liked it enough that I'd come back just for this alone.

A big bowl of warm seaweed soup (miyeok-guk) also came out, loaded with both seaweed and beef so it felt even more generous.

A 'seaweed wallet,' how cute haha — it came out matched to the number of diners, with 3 thick sheets of seaweed inside, and eating it confirmed it was definitely good-quality gopchang-gim (thick-textured seaweed)!

The main dish: steamed ray (gaori-jjim)
The star of the show, ray stew! It was as big as the single large-size order. Wow. I was surprised it was bigger than expected, and it was so delicious I ate it all to the end. 👏

All three of us had only ever eaten ray as a side dish at raw fish restaurants, so we figured this would be similar — but not at all~~ The flesh was thick and plentiful, soft and tasty, something anyone of any age would love. This was the day my opinion of ray changed. 💡

The seasoning was spot-on too, and the rice cake sticks, radish, and chili peppers that came with it were great~~ 👏 An unexpected rice thief. I feel like they could sell this alone. Same with the grilled mackerel... honestly, everything was delicious.
Is Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye good for family meals and company dinners?

Gaya Kkeutjip, a hanjeongsik restaurant in Samgye-dong, is great not just because you get to try lots of healthy, varied dishes — every single dish, not just the sheer number of them, was genuinely tasty enough to keep reaching for. The space is also upscale, bright, spacious and comfortable, so I'd recommend it for family gatherings or company dinners! With parking support and friendly staff, it seems like a great place to comfortably enjoy a delicious meal with the people who matter to you. 😁
