Gimhae Yulha gamjatang restaurant with a baby chair: Ppyeodae Itneun

In short

Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang Yulha Branch is a Korean restaurant on Yulha 7-ro in Gimhae serving gamjatang (spicy pork bone stew) and haejangguk (hangover soup) made with domestic pork neck bones. On a cool-weather visit, a 3-person gamjatang single order came with unlimited potato, hand-torn noodle, rice cake and ramen add-ins, while the staff brought a baby chair and seaweed flakes for the toddler, and the meal ended with sotbap (pot rice) nurungji and a complimentary slushie. Between the spicy broth, the big chunks of bone meat and the kid-friendly touches, Ppyeodae Itneun is an easy pick for a family meal in Yulha.

The weather's finally cooled off, so I found myself craving gamjatang (spicy pork bone stew) and headed to Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang Yulha Branch. It also feels like the sun sets faster now that it's cooler. Still, this cooler weather is such a relief...🙄

This is a restaurant that hand-selects domestic pork neck bones and handles everything from cutting to cooking themselves. They open for breakfast starting at 8 a.m., so if you're in Jangyu looking for a morning meal, this could be worth a visit!

If you order the Daega Hansang set, you apparently get marinated crab and raw fish salad as sides! The banner at the entrance already made my mouth water with those visuals🤤

Inside the Yulha restaurant and what's on the menu

The interior was spacious and comfortable, with tables spread out generously so you can eat at ease without feeling crowded.

From the Daega Hansang set to bone-in grilled pork, sotbap and sliced pork, the menu is really well put together! Even the receipt review event and the wifi password are all shown at a glance on the tablet screen — pretty thoughtful, right?!ㅎㅎ

Looks like they also post news updates here. If you need it, take a look~!

What comes with the 3-person gamjatang: side dishes and dipping sauce

I'd had a lot of snacks today, so I ordered the 3-person gamjatang single order.😋

Basic table setting for the 3-person gamjatang single order
Table setting with basic side dishes
Rice bowl packed generously full
Dipping sauce with onion and garlic for the meat

Here's the basic setup. The rice was one we ordered~!ㅎㅎ They packed the bowl nice and full too. The sauce seems to have onion and garlic in it, and dipping the meat in it gave such a savory depth~~ it was so good🤭 Highly recommend the sauce!!!

Self-serve bar with potato, dumpling, rice cake and ramen add-ins
Plate of self-served add-ins
Pot of gamjatang piled with meat and napa cabbage
Gamjatang topped with mushrooms stamped with the restaurant name
Spicy gamjatang broth bubbling away

Unlimited add-ins: how does the gamjatang taste?

I also loaded up on add-ins to drop into the bubbling gamjatang. There's potato, dumpling, rice cake and ramen noodles, and you can even self-refill the basic side dishes. Amazing... I've never seen unlimited add-in refills at a haejangguk restaurant before 🙄

And finally, the main gamjatang arrived! Piled generously to the brim with meat and napa cabbage, plus mushrooms stamped with the restaurant's name as a nice touch....‼️‼️ Looks so good, doesn't it?!ㅎㅎ Let's dig in!!

Bubbling away🍲 It's a bit spicy, making it even more warming~! The meat was tender, and the combo of napa cabbage with the fiery broth = 👍🏻

Is Ppyeodae Itneun a good gamjatang spot with a baby?

They have a baby chair, baby tableware and a bib on hand, so keep that in mind if you're visiting as a family~! Since our baby can't eat tuna rice balls, they gave us seaweed flakes separately (so kind!!). But after rinsing the meat in water, she ate it up so well 🤭🤣 She'd already had potato and rice, and still went back for more🤭

Large gamjatang bone meat held in hand

Look how big one piece of meat is😦 The three of us tore through more than two pieces each ㅎㅎㅎ

Sotbap nurungji and the complimentary slushie

I tried the sotbap (pot rice), and after downing spicy gamjatang, one spoonful of the savory nurungji (scorched rice tea) really felt like it soothed my stomach and made everything settle down🫪 The perfect finish to K-dessert is definitely nurungji!ㅎㅎㅎ

The restroom is inside. Men's and women's restrooms are separate, and it was clean too, so it was a pleasant experience.

They finished us off with a service slushie! A free slushie in summer...!!! I liked the orange one better~~🤭 Our baby got a cup of slushie too~~👼🏻

What to order on the next visit

I heard their sliced pork with skin is made in-house with a ratio of 80% skin to 20% lean meat, so it's basically a collagen bomb. Next time I want to try the sliced pork and the marinated crab too. If you're craving a fiery gamjatang, come check out Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang Yulha Branch! As for our baby, 100% would come again!
