In short
Solsot Gwangalli is a pot rice restaurant on Gwangnam-ro in Suyeong, Busan. On a second visit, the writer ordered abalone pot rice, steak pot rice, and a side of yurinki, pouring nurungji (scorched rice) and broth into the pot to finish with nurungji soup — best paired with jeotgal (salted seafood). I was looking for a filling meal in Gwangalli and ended up at Solsot Gwangalli. They have so many kinds of pot rice that you can pick whatever suits your taste, so I wanted to share it as a Gwangalli lunch spot, haha.

What's the vibe inside?
Walking in, the space was bigger than I expected, with lots of tables. It has a clean, tidy vibe that made it really comfortable to eat in. I've eaten here before too — the food's good but the space is also comfy, so I keep coming back.

There's a decent variety of pot rice, from meat to seafood, so it's easy to pick something to your taste, and they also have side dishes prepared to go along with the pot rice.

You order easily via kiosk, then just wait while sipping cold water! On one side there's also nurungji (scorched rice) set aside so you can enjoy it as nurungji soup after finishing your pot rice.
They're also running a Naver receipt review event, so if you can participate, check it out! 🤍

How to eat the abalone is written in detail on the table. When staff bring the food, they ask if it's your first visit — if you say yes, they explain everything super kindly, haha! It was my second visit so this time I handled it myself, lol!
How do you eat the abalone pot rice?
First, the abalone pot rice! Just looking at it makes my mouth water.. 🤤 Abalone, chopped green onion, and butter are on top, and inside the pot there's even rich abalone innards! Let me briefly explain how to eat it below. (Each type of pot rice is eaten slightly differently, so for types other than abalone and steak, please check the photos above. 🤍)
- Mix it well all the way to the bottom, then scoop it all out into the bowl provided.
- Add about 3 spoonfuls of the nurungji that was set on the table into the now-empty pot.
- Then pour all the warm broth from the bottle shown in the photo into the pot, close the lid, and set it aside — enjoy it at the end of your meal.

The side dishes — kimchi, jeotgal (salted seafood), soy sauce, and seaweed — came out together, which was great since you could try lots of combinations. Thanks to that I never got tired of it and enjoyed it thoroughly till the end!

The finishing nurungji soup was really delicious. Especially the combination with jeotgal was the best!!! You really have to try it with jeotgal.
Steak pot rice

A hard-to-mess-up dish that pretty much anyone will enjoy — steak pot rice! It's eaten the same way as the abalone pot rice, haha. The pot is piled with beef, and a raw egg on top adds a savory touch, which is the highlight.

Dipped in the steak sauce it's sweetish and delicious, and it also went well with kimchi. It's a menu item that's easy to like across the board, so I'd recommend it as a Gwangalli lunch pick, haha.
Side yurinki

The side dish I ordered, yurinki, is a Chinese-style dish of crispy fried chicken with a tangy, spicy sauce.

The chicken was crispy outside and juicy inside, and the sweet-and-sour, slightly spicy sauce went really well with it. ☺️ Eaten together with the lettuce underneath, it felt super refreshing and light — a really good pairing as a side for pot rice, haha.
A Gwangalli lunch spot where you can pick from a variety of pot rice and side dishes to your taste and eat a filling meal — Solsot Gwangalli!
