Weekday lunch full house at a Suyeong, Busan pork belly spot: Geobugi

In short

Geobugi Dongne Namcheon Branch is a large aged pork belly restaurant that just opened on the main road by Namcheon Station in Suyeong, Busan. Visiting on a weekday lunch, the writer ordered the jjolmyeon (spicy cold noodles) pork belly set 500g for ₩40,000 plus a ₩5,000 table charge that unlocked an unlimited self-serve bar and desserts, and even though the place was fully booked, new ventilation kept the air fresh. With a kids' video room and a private group room on top of that, it's an easy recommendation for family meals or work dinners.

A big, wallet-friendly barbecue restaurant just opened in Namcheon-dong, and since it specializes in soft, aged pork belly, we — the pork-loving couple that we are — rushed right over haha! We went at lunchtime and the huge dining room was nearly fully booked. Let's dig into the secret behind that popularity.

Geobugi Dongne is a chain barbecue restaurant most people around here already know. The Namcheon branch is brand new, so everything is fresh. It's also super conveniently located, right by Namcheon Station on a big main road.

With a red brick exterior and a cute ribbon on it, you can spot it from far away, no problem! Step inside and the wide, clean interior spreads out in front of you.

Why it stayed comfortable even at full capacity

Usually when a barbecue place is packed, smoke and grease smell make it stuffy, but because this place has brand-new ventilation, the air actually felt really fresh even with every table full.

Seating with generous spacing between tables

There's also plenty of space between tables, so walking back and forth to the self-serve bar was easy.

There's a private group room where you can eat with some privacy, which makes it perfect for company dinners, family gatherings, or meetups with friends.

What the kids' video room is like

There's also a kids' video room, and the best part is that parents can eat comfortably while the kids watch cartoons!

When we visited, two adorable little kids were happily watching cartoons together haha. It's not a playroom or a ball pit, so there's no risk of the kids getting hurt, and parents can check on them anytime via CCTV while eating in the main hall. Special props to the owner for that idea!!

Where to park

No lot, no parking support. Since the building has no dedicated parking, you'll need to use a nearby paid parking lot. Here are the two closest ones: Jeongam Building parking and Smile parking. Both are a 2-minute walk away. Personally, I'd recommend Smile parking.

Here's the menu — pork, beef, aged meat, marinated meat, and more... they had a wide variety of cuts. This place is also famous for shabu-shabu, and since it's shabu-shabu at a barbecue restaurant, people say the meat quality is a cut above. Next time I'll have to try the shabu-shabu grill set.

The first order of meat must be at least 500g, and there's a ₩5,000 table charge per table. The table charge covers the unlimited self-serve bar plus desserts like ice cream and coffee.

Geobugi Dongne's signature dish is thick pork belly aged for 14 days. The long-aged meat is grilled thick at 3.3cm, giving you a crispy outside and juicy inside. It's been featured on SBS's Live Today and KBS's Vivid Info, so its taste has already been well vetted.

So today, aged pork belly, I choose you!

Side dishes come from the self-serve bar

Besides the jjolmyeon and pork belly, no separate side dishes come with the meal, so we grabbed banchan (side dishes) from the self-serve bar according to our taste.

There was a wide variety of side dishes, sauces, and wrap vegetables, so we grabbed a bit of everything. It was all pretty tasty all around. The vegetables were fresh, and above all, the self-serve bar seemed to be kept very clean, which I liked.

Thick pork belly tastes best when you crisp up the skin first!

Pork belly being grilled skin-side first

Grilled until golden brown, the skin part was chewy and crispy, and with just the right ratio of meat to fat, savory juices burst in your mouth with every bite.

Wrapping it up like this, or rolling it into the spicy jjolmyeon, made the 500g disappear in no time~

The giant jjolmyeon that comes with the set

And the real surprise was this giant jjolmyeon that comes with the set — the portion is genuinely huge, easily enough for two or more.

The giant jjolmyeon plate included in the set

My husband, who usually out-eats basically everyone, looked kind of cute struggling in front of this giant jjolmyeon haha.

Spicy giant jjolmyeon piled with vegetables

Loaded with crunchy cabbage, lettuce, perilla leaves, carrots, and seaweed flakes, it had all kinds of textures to chew through, and the spicy sauce paired with the crisp vegetables completely cut through the richness of the meat. No wonder it's the signature set — I really loved this combo!

The three-way dessert set

Once you finish the meal, you've got to go for round two with dessert!

Geobugi Dongne Namcheon Branch offers a three-way dessert set: sweet mix coffee for the grown-ups, nutty brewed coffee for the younger crowd, and sweet soft-serve ice cream for the kids.

My husband happily munched his soft-serve in a crispy cone, and I made myself an affogato and enjoyed it my way. As expected, even the finish was flawless!

Final thoughts

A Namcheon-dong restaurant recommendation! A Namcheon-dong pork belly recommendation! A Namcheon-dong Korean barbecue recommendation! This large barbecue restaurant doesn't lack anything — value, taste, cleanliness, and amenities (kids' video room, private group room) are all covered. And the meat quality speaks for itself! If you're looking for a spot for a family meal or a work dinner in Namcheon-dong, I'd recommend this place without hesitation.
