Of all the bakeries at Danyang Gugyeong Market, this is the salt bread spot I really want to recommend!

At Danyang Gugyeong Market, it is already a famous salt bread shop: people walk around carrying its bags, and there is often a wait.

I bought some here on my previous visit to Gugyeong Market too. Even when you get close, the delicious smell of salt bread drifts out and is so hard to resist..! And it is not just the smell—the bread is delicious tooㅠ You absolutely have to eat it.

Salt bread varieties and choosing a set

Black Garlic Salt Bread has four kinds of salt bread: original, soboro, garlic, and black garlic.

You can buy them individually, but if you want them a little cheaper, it is best to get a discounted set! There are several set combinations, so just order the one you want.

Each one has its own charm, but the original is delicious, so you absolutely have to have it~ And because Danyang is the city of garlic, I also recommend Set 2 with garlic and black garlic if you want a taste of the local character!

They make the black garlic in-house, so it is a special menu item you can only have here! So we ordered two sets: Set 1 with four original salt breads, and Set 2 with two original, one garlic, and one black garlic.

And as soon as we got into the car, we decided to eat some salt bread. We had just eaten and were full, but there was no way we could resist the smell of freshly baked salt breadㅠㅠ We started with the original salt bread from Set 2 because it was easy to eat in the car.

Look at that plump, glossy salt bread. It was nicely buttery yet had a soft, fluffy feel; it was not chewy and pulled apart tenderly along the layers, which I loved even more.

The inside was wonderfully fluffy, with a big butter pocket, while the bottom was crispy-crackly with buttery flavor. It was so good that we each ate one right there. My top bakery recommendation at Danyang Gugyeong Market.

Comparing garlic and black garlic flavors at home

Once we got home, it was time to really dig in! They would probably be even better warmed briefly in the air fryer, but they were plenty delicious as they were.

The one cut open with the dark filling is the black garlic salt bread, and the one sprinkled with garlic is the garlic salt bread. They tasted different: the black garlic version had a deep black garlic flavor and was less sweet, while the garlic version seemed coated in condensed milk or syrup, so it was sweeter.

They both have different charms, but the black garlic salt bread was moister inside and more intensely flavored! Still, it is best to buy a set and try every one.
