Cinnamon and condensed milk bread at Baegya, a Gangneung bakery café
In short
Baegya Coffee is an ocean-view bakery café right in front of Sageunjin Beach in Gangneung, with seating on floors 1 to 3 and a rooftop on the 4th floor. The order was a butterscotch latte and an iced americano with two breads, one cinnamon-scented and one coated in condensed milk, eaten at the floor-to-ceiling windows facing the sea, and every floor at Baegya Coffee has a different mood, so choosing a seat is half the fun. Small touches like an elevator with space for a tray make Baegya Coffee an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a sea-view café in Gangneung.

No trip to Gangneung is complete without a leisurely coffee while gazing at the sea. This time I visited Baegya Coffee, an ocean-view café in Gangneung right in front of Sageunjin Beach. Not only is it close to the water, but the floor-to-ceiling windows open up to a sweeping ocean view, making it a great match for anyone looking for an ocean-view café in Gangneung. The bakery items and drinks were both great too, so let's get into this Gangneung café that has it all 🐰✨
Where is Baegya Coffee and what are its hours?

Baegya Coffee is located at 607 Haean-ro, 1st–3rd floor, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea, and is open daily from 09:00–21:00 (last order 20:30). Parking, group seating, and takeout are available, restrooms are separated by gender, and high chairs and wheelchair access are provided. Sageunjin Beach is right out front.

Baegya Coffee sits right in front of Sageunjin Beach in Gangneung.

Being right across from the beach meant I could see the sea before even stepping inside the café. If you're looking for a café near the beach during a Gangneung trip, this is a great spot location-wise. The café takes up floors 1 through 3 plus a rooftop on the 4th floor, so it's really spacious — great for visiting with family or friends.
Floor-to-ceiling sea views and seating floor by floor

Baegya Coffee's biggest draw is definitely the ocean view! Big floor-to-ceiling windows put the sea right in front of you, so you can soak it in without even stepping outside. On a clear day, the blue sky and sea together must make for an amazing atmosphere.

The inside was much more spacious than I expected too. With seating from the 1st to the 3rd floor, it's good for sitting quietly alone with a coffee, but also works well for groups. Each floor has a slightly different vibe, so there's fun in picking the seat that suits you. I personally liked the seats with the best sea view the most. 🌊
What bread does the Baegya Coffee bakery have?

Since Baegya Coffee is a bakery café, it has a wide variety of bread on top of the drinks. Walking in, you're met with a display case full of different bakery items, making it easy to pick something to go with your coffee. I meant to just order a drink, but ended up getting bread too haha 😂

From meal-style breads to savory snack breads and dessert cakes, there was such a range that I felt like there had to be something for everyone. If you go early, it'd be great for a bread-based brunch too!
The order: butterscotch latte, iced americano and two breads

On this visit at Baegya Coffee, the order was a butterscotch latte, an iced americano, and two kinds of bread!

Can you see how good this bread looks... The one on the left had a soft, delicious cinnamon scent, and the one on the right was coated in condensed milk — how could that combo not be good! Both bakery picks were a hit 🎵

The butterscotch latte had a sweet, smooth flavor that made it easy to drink like a dessert. It really brought to mind that classic butterscotch candy taste, and being creamy made it go down very smoothly. If you usually like ababa or an Einspänner, this one's a safe bet 👍
The iced americano was refreshing alongside the sweet bread, as expected. And with the bread set next to it, it made for a pretty appetizing spread 🤎

Eating it in front of such a pretty view somehow made it feel even more satisfying haha
Service and the elevator with tray space

In terms of service, the staff were friendly, the café interior was kept clean, and the restrooms were tidy too. In particular, there's an elevator for easily moving between floors, and it even has a spot inside to set a tray down — a small detail, but it showed real thoughtfulness.
Pairing Baegya Coffee with a walk on Sageunjin Beach

One of Baegya Coffee's biggest strengths is being right in front of Sageunjin Beach, so rather than visiting the café alone, it's worth pairing it with a walk along the beach 🏃 Sageunjin Beach has recently been redone, and it's less crowded than Gangmun Beach, with fun extras out front like an outdoor gym and a cosmos field!
Is Baegya Coffee worth a stop in Gangneung?
Overall, Baegya Coffee brought together its location right by Sageunjin Beach, floor-to-ceiling ocean views, a spacious interior, and a wide bakery selection really well. Above all, being able to enjoy coffee leisurely right by the sea was the best part. It works whether you want to sit quietly alone watching the water or come with friends or family, since there's plenty of seating either way! If you're looking for an ocean-view café in Gangneung or a spot near Sageunjin Beach to stop by, I'd recommend Baegya Coffee. Next time, I'd like to try other bakery items while slowly enjoying the sea view. 🌊🥐
