Buses are convenient too, so I'd recommend public transit! Great accessibility if you're near Seo-gu, Naedang-dong, or E-World in Daegu.

Here's the waiting list, proof that this place is a real hotspot!

Living up to its reputation as a long-running, famous Daegu restaurant, the walls are covered in photos of celebrities who've visited ~👍🏻👍🏻

What do the receipt review and Naver reservation events give you?
At Daraewon Makchang, you can choose between patbingsu (shaved ice dessert) or a bomb egg steamed dish for the receipt review event, and there's also a coupon event for spicy ramen or patbingsu if you reserve through Naver. With this good atmosphere and taste... the drinks just keep flowing ~~ and this is a place where you can really end up drunk, so keep your wits about you haha.

Don't miss the spicy ramen and patbingsu coupon event when you reserve through Naver ~~

Daraewon Makchang menu, 3-person minimum and the free bomb egg custard
Besides pork intestine, Daraewon Makchang has a variety of menu items ready like beef intestine, pork belly, pork neck, and beef short rib. There's a minimum order for 3 people, but you can mix and match, so it's fun to order a bit of everything and enjoy the variety haha.
I took part in the Naver review event and got a bomb egg steamed dish as a freebie ❗️ A neat, fluffy egg steamed dish 🥚

Drum-can tables under a vinyl tent: the outdoor pojangmacha mood
The old-school pojangmacha (outdoor tent bar) vibe here is no joke... At Daraewon Makchang, you sit at drum-can tables under a vinyl tent to eat, and the taste is great, but honestly, this place is a vibe destination too, so it's perfect for dates and great for gatherings 👍🏻👍🏻

Since I made a reservation, I got seated in a spot with really good atmosphere!! I'd definitely recommend reserving ahead.

So many people, and that pojangmacha feeling makes it feel like a trip haha. I love it so much~

There's another connected space next door?? I was surprised the seating was way bigger than I expected. A great place for all kinds of gatherings and work dinners ‼️‼️
50 years of fruit-aged makchang: was there any off-smell?
This 50-year-old makchang has zero funky smell, chewy and savory from the fruit marinating ~~ so delicious!! I also learned that after 50 years of the parents running the shop, the son has now taken over. He apparently trained hard for 6 years, so I felt reassured knowing that taste and care will keep going strong haha.
The dipping sauce is seriously special! Add a bit of cheongyang chili and it's not greasy at all, so you can eat endlessly haha. Even people who aren't great with intestine dishes should try this as a starter, since there's no smell and the sauce is so good!
Soft and chewy ~~ even the rice cake pieces were delicious...

Chicken feet, vegetable wraps and the yangpun bibimbap finish
The chicken feet, grilled together on one side of the grill, are soaked in a sweet-spicy sauce that cuts right through the richness of the makchang, and the spicy, smoky combo is so good 🔥
Makchang is great on its own, but wrapping it in lettuce and eating it neatly is another win 😋

As we were finishing up the meat, the yangpun bibimbap we ordered arrived, rice, lettuce, a fried egg, and gochujang all mixed together in the bowl, and it made for the perfect finish ~~
On a nice day, enjoying delicious chicken feet and makchang under an outdoor tent is next-level romantic. Beyond just a boozy vibe, what impressed me most was how hard they work to keep the same taste and care over the years 👍🏻👍🏻 This felt like a place with real pride as a top Seo-gu, Daegu restaurant and a top Daegu makchang spot ‼️‼️‼️ The menu is great value too, so definitely go check it out 🏃🏃♀️
