A few days ago, on my way to pick up my kids from daycare, I suddenly got a craving for a sandwich, so I looked around and ended up at Dance Dance Dance Seoul Station, near Seoul Station!

Inside the shop: an open basement level 3 space at Grand Central

The shop is located on basement level 3 of Grand Central, and it's an open-plan store where you can see the whole interior clearly!

At the counter there were baguettes on display, and the cod roe baguette in particular looked really delicious!😄

What to know before ordering

Dance Dance Dance Seoul Station also takes group orders, so I was impressed to see clear signage explaining how group orders work and information about food handling!

The menu board and swapping the bread for ciabatta

The menu is made up of sandwiches and baguettes, and for sandwiches you can swap the bread to ciabatta!

I usually like baguette and eat it often, but that day, for some reason, I had a feeling ciabatta would go better!😲 So I ordered the jambon jalapeño sandwich and the egg potato sandwich, both with the bread swapped to ciabatta! They told me it would take about 10 minutes since the bread has to be baked.

To eat in, I took a seat at one of the tables in front of the shop! Since it was rush hour after work, there was plenty of room, and there was a notice about how to use the tables sitting on top. Since it's an open-plan store, people from other shops use these tables too, and things must get crowded during peak times!

How the jambon jalapeño and egg potato sandwiches taste

About 10 minutes later, the sandwiches I'd been waiting for arrived! Packed in paper boxes, they were freshly baked, warm, and looked delicious!

Checking the contents, I was happy to see the jambon spread evenly instead of piled to one side!👍

Looking at the cross-section, the jalapeño tofu cream cheese was piled on thick — clearly they didn't skimp on ingredients!

Taking a bite, the ham mellowed out the spicy jalapeño, and it blended perfectly with the clean, plain taste of the ciabatta — so good! I usually like bread and eat it a lot, and the jambon jalapeño sandwich was totally my style! The spiciness, the aroma of the jambon, and the plainness of the ciabatta together made for a flavor that felt healthy but never boring — I was very satisfied!

Looking inside, the egg mayo was, again, packed in evenly rather than piled to one side!

Before eating I thought it looked pretty ordinary and figured it would just be regular egg mayo, so I wasn't expecting much! But with no expectations, I took a bite, and as I chewed I started noticing a bit of sweetness — looking at the cross-section again, sure enough, there was strawberry jam layered underneath!👍 With the egg mayo and strawberry jam together, I could really taste that classic sweet-savory combo, and I loved that the plain ciabatta bread didn't get in the way of that sweet-savory flavor!

After trying both sandwiches, my takeaway was that swapping the bread to ciabatta was absolutely the right call! The plainness of the ciabatta didn't overpower the flavors and aromas of the fillings — it just worked. If you're looking for a hearty sandwich place near Seoul Station, I'd recommend this one!
