I wanted to recommend a Dunsan-dong café in Daejeon, so I stopped by Frank Coffee Bar Dunsan Branch. I really wanted to visit because it's the brand's first directly-run store in Daejeon, and Frank Coffee Bar actually started in my hometown, Jeonju. Frank Coffee Bar is a famous coffee bar chain that won the Grand Prize in the café franchise category at the 2026 Korea Consumer Brand Awards — its fourth consecutive year taking the honor.

A solo work-trip stop in Dunsan-dong: what is Frank Coffee Bar like?
On a recent work trip to Daejeon, I stopped by Frank Coffee Bar, a well-known Dunsan-dong café spot!! I was alone, but I had such a great time in such a great atmosphere. I'd heard it was famous for its vintage feel and delicious signature coffee, Frank Coffee, so I made a special trip — and it exceeded my expectations.
Frank Coffee Bar Daejeon Dunsan Branch sits in an alley just off the main streets of Dunsan-dong, so it'll suit people who want a calm mood rather than a bustling one.
Inside Frank Coffee Bar: vintage furniture and seating
The moment I stepped through the door, I felt it: this place is different. Statues and vintage pieces scattered around, antique furniture everywhere — it gave off an exotic vibe, like walking into a little café somewhere in Europe. It felt warm yet calm, so even alone, my eyes never got bored. It's a space that works equally well for sitting quietly by yourself or chatting away with friends or a partner.
I think Frank Coffee Bar's atmosphere comes from the fact that it sources high-quality vintage furniture directly instead of using cheap mass-produced pieces. The coffee is delicious, the space is beautiful, and they keep developing new bakery items and coffee menus — that seems to be the secret behind its continued popularity.
How many kinds of salt bread does Frank Coffee Bar bake?
Frank Coffee Bar Dunsan Branch really has a huge menu. The new peach warreo wakppu salt bread looked delicious too, but I picked the butter salt bread and the chestnut streusel salt bread. They seem to have almost every kind of salt bread you could imagine. The jambon salt bread was super tempting too.

How the signature Frank Coffee (cream latte) tastes

This place's signature is unquestionably the 'Frank Coffee (cream latte)'. The cute FRANK initials piped onto the cream catch your eye first, but after one sip — the cream was smooth and the coffee was nutty without too much acidity, exactly my taste. The coffee itself had great balance, so even people who like strong, heavy coffee would be satisfied.

Espresso Albero and the beans at Frank Coffee Bar
I had a coupon for espresso Albero from turning on Naver notifications, so I had a cup of that too — maybe thanks to it, I didn't even feel tired on the drive back to Jeonju. I heard Frank Coffee Bar blends two kinds of beans, Brazilian and Ethiopian, and I could taste a finish somewhere between milk and dark chocolate because of it. Every menu item except espresso is available for takeout.

I can't leave out the salt bread and baked goods I had alongside — the salt bread was crispy outside and soft inside, and paired with the sweet fig cake and coffee, the combination was really great.

Is Frank Coffee Bar Dunsan worth a visit?
If you're looking for a great-atmosphere café in Dunsan-dong, Daejeon, I'd confidently recommend this one. If you want both good coffee and great interior design, be sure to stop by Frank Coffee Bar Dunsan Branch. It was a place where one cup of coffee could give you a real sense of romance and ease. Between raising kids and working, I barely have any time alone — I should find places like Frank Coffee Bar more often!!
