Same-day booking for 8 at a Daegu pork galbi restaurant: Baeksanu
In short
Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch is a charcoal-grilled pork galbi restaurant in Wolseong-dong, Dalseo, Daegu. For a mom's birthday lunch, eight people including an aunt's family booked a table by phone the same day, and the six adults alone finished close to 4kg of pork galbi. The meat was not tough and the marinade was not overly sweet, so Baeksanu Sutbul worked easily for both adults and kids.

Today I visited a Korean BBQ restaurant for the first time in a while with my aunt's family for mom's birthday lunch. It's Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch, a well-known pork galbi spot in Wolseong-dong, Daegu. My schedule's been all over the place so I hadn't seen my cousins much, but they'd grown so much today. T_T

Booking a table for 8 the same day at Baeksanu Sutbul: was there a wait?
We booked a table for 8 at Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch with a same-day phone call. When I called, the owner gave us a heads-up that there were a lot of groups so we might have to wait. But we got in without any wait at all, haha. With 2 kids in the group I figured we wouldn't eat that much, but 6 adults put away 4kg lolol.

Why pork galbi was the pick for a family birthday lunch
Picking a menu for a family meal is surprisingly hard. Something too strong or spicy might be a lot for the older folks, but if you pick something too light it doesn't quite feel like you're treating everyone properly, so I ended up going back and forth. This time we settled on pork galbi, something everyone could eat comfortably together.

Playroom, game machine and slushies: is Baeksanu Sutbul kid-friendly?
Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch had a game machine and slushies that kids love. Honestly, I love those too, not just the kids, haha. So I had a grape slushie for dessert. We didn't play the game though. :)

And there's a playroom too. You don't see playrooms much these days, but oh, the kids were running around like crazy in there. Totally kid-friendly!!!!

What's on the self-bar and the basic side dishes
There's a self-bar set up like this too. If you scroll down to the photos below you'll see faint traces of grilled pork skin, so give the pork skin from the self-bar a try as well :) If you're looking for a family dining spot around Dalseo or Wolseong-dong in Daegu, or craving tender charcoal-grilled pork galbi, this is a place I'd recommend stopping by, haha.

This is the basic setting, and if you need anything else you can just use the self-bar. If you're looking for a place to eat with your parents or other adults around Wolseong-dong, I think it's worth a visit. My family really enjoyed this meal, and everyone ate well, so I came away happy too.

After a bit of a wait, they brought the charcoal over, and I liked how calmly they set it up so the kids wouldn't get hurt. Also, this place is near my house, so there's a very high chance we'll come back. It wasn't just the taste — the portion size and quality were good too, so we were all satisfied.

How the charcoal-grilled pork galbi tasted: was the meat tough?
The pork galbi at Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch was grilled golden brown over charcoal, and yeah, seasoned galbi really does taste best cooked over charcoal. As the meat cooked, that sweet sauce smell mixed with the charcoal aroma, and I kept reaching for more while grilling. Personally, I think pork galbi is a dish that both little kids and adults can enjoy without much disagreement, which makes it great for a family meal. And when the meat is this tender on top of that, it's even easier to bring the older folks along.
What I liked most was that the meat was really more tender than I expected. Sometimes at pork galbi places the meat can be tough or dry, which makes it uncomfortable for older people to eat, but the galbi at Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch had almost no toughness and chewed soft and easy. The sauce had soaked in well too, so it tasted plenty flavorful even without dipping it in extra sauce.
If the sauce is only sweet, you tend to get sick of it fast when eating a lot, but this was less heavy than I expected, so I kept eating. The charcoal smoke soaked in subtly and brought out the flavor of the meat, so it went well with rice too.

Six adults, 4kg of galbi, and a grilling tip
Since it's seasoned galbi, it can burn quickly while grilling, so flipping it often helped. Eating it right when it turned slightly golden was best — the meat stayed tender and kept its juices, so it tasted even better. We meant to eat a moderate amount at first, but after finishing one plate we ordered more, then more again, and ended up eating close to 4kg of pork galbi alone, haha.

My family usually loves meat, but I didn't expect us to eat this much. I think eating that much kind of speaks for the taste on its own. If the flavor had been just okay, we probably would've ordered something else partway through or stopped after eating a moderate amount, but we just kept adding more galbi. If we ever go out for meat with the family again, I think we'll be thinking of this Wolseong-dong, Daegu spot, Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch.
