Trampoline playroom and slushies at Wolseong-dong, Daegu galbi grill

My other half suddenly craved meat, so we headed out for pork galbi after a while 🥩 Whenever we eat out with our kid, taste matters, but I always end up checking whether there's a playroom too. This time the food was great AND our kid had a blast, so it was a satisfying family outing all around ❤️❤️ The place: Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch :)

📍 Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch is at 102-10 Joam-ro, Dalseo-gu, Daegu. There's no dedicated lot, but when I visited, roadside parking nearby was easy to find.

I found this place while searching for good pork galbi, and the restaurant turned out to be bigger than I expected. What caught my eye first was the firewood decor out front. Seeing that charcoal-grill-house vibe before even stepping inside had me looking forward to the meat 🫢🫢

Inside Baeksanu Sutbul: spacious hall and kiosk ordering

Once inside Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch, it was much roomier than I'd pictured. Square tables were packed in close together, which looked good for family meals as well as bigger groups. The interior felt a bit different from the usual Korean BBQ places I go to, which was a refreshing change 💙💙 And with a kiosk at every table, ordering was easy.

Pre-grilled pork galbi: why it works with a child along

At Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch, once you order the meat, it gets pre-grilled in a separate station before being brought out, so at the table we only needed to finish it off a bit more. When grilling takes forever, you're juggling the kid and the grill at the same time and it gets chaotic — having it pre-grilled made things noticeably easier, haha.

Pork skin and slushies at the self-bar

The self-bar at Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch had the basics like wrap vegetables, but one item really stood out. Pork skin 🐽🐽 A self-bar where you can just help yourself to pork skin — first time I've seen that! Amazing!

And after the meal, there were slushies too, which kids would love.

🛝 The trampoline playroom, a must with kids

The playroom at Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch had a trampoline and a slide and more, giving kids a space to run around before and after the meal. This was one of my favorite parts of the whole visit! There were plenty of families around when I visited, with kids playing away in the playroom.

When eating out with a kid, they often get restless not long after finishing their food, but having a playroom meant we parents could eat much more at ease. So this place could be a solid pick for anyone hunting for a restaurant with a playroom, or a Korean BBQ place with a playroom 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Baeksanu Sutbul isn't just about pork galbi — the menu covers raw galbi, makchang (grilled beef intestines), beef galbi, charcoal-grilled squid, scallops, yukhoe (beef tartare), and more, from meat to sides.

Among all of that, the restaurant's signature dish is the 1kg real pork galbi 🤎🤎 They apparently handle their own meat distribution and trimming in-house, and true to a signature dish, it's a generous portion at a fair price.

How does the 1kg real pork galbi taste?

The basic side dishes came out first, then a platter of golden, pre-grilled pork galbi followed 👍👍 Being 1kg, the portion was indeed generous. Seeing the pork galbi browning nicely, with the charcoal aroma on top, made my mouth water just looking at it 😆😆

I took a bite and — wait, this galbi is actually really good? The sauce wasn't just sweet for the sake of it; the meat's own flavor and the charcoal aroma came through together nicely. With that signature sweetish pork galbi sauce plus the charcoal smokiness, I just kept eating the meat without needing rice 🐽🐽 Out of all the galbi places I've been to, this ranks among the best I've had 👍👍

🍜 Finishing with ramyeon and hanwoo doenjang jjigae

It felt like a waste to stop at just the meat, so I also thoroughly worked through the ramyeon and doenjang jjigae with rice. The ramyeon came out cooked chewy and springy, exactly to my taste. And the doenjang jjigae with hanwoo (Korean beef) in it! Savory doenjang jjigae with hanwoo mixed in felt richer and tastier than the usual version you get at a BBQ place. In the end, I polished off a whole bowl of rice too 🤣🤣
