Yangyang Seo-myeon BBQ restaurant with a lucky draw: Yeoyejeong
In short
Yeoyejeong is a charcoal barbecue restaurant at the foot of a mountain on Ssangsolbaegi-gil in Seo-myeon, Yangyang, Gangwon. Craving something sweet and savoury mid-trip, we ordered two servings of pork galbi (marinated ribs) and mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) at Yeoyejeong, grilling the ribs over charcoal; the marinated galbi is 18,000 won for 250g. The ribs are not overly sweet, and with chive salad, fresh wasabi and a no-miss lucky draw for reviewers, Yeoyejeong makes a filling meal on the road.

While traveling around Yangyang, I suddenly craved sweet marinated meat, so I headed to Yeoyejeong, a spot said to be popular with locals too.

Isn't the charming exterior at the foot of the mountain lovely? Being a wooden building, it had such a warm, cozy feel.

There's plenty of parking space too, so even new drivers should be able to visit this Yangyang favorite, Yeoyejeong, comfortably. The lot is huge, right? Things like this are one of the perks of traveling in the countryside.
Inside Yeoyejeong: seating and atmosphere

Stepping inside, a clean and bright counter greets you — this Yangyang barbecue restaurant is also known for its sweet pork galbi. The overall wood-tone interior gives off a relaxed feeling.

The dining hall is quite spacious, plenty enough for family gatherings or group visits. Each table has good ventilation, so you don't have to worry too much about smelling like grilled meat afterward.
Yeoyejeong menu, marinated galbi price and the lucky draw

I checked the menu first — there's quite a variety, from pork galbi to samgyeopsal to beef. The marinated galbi is ₩18,000 for 250g, which feels like a solid deal given today's prices.

On one side I spotted Yeoyejeong's own signature aged meat, the salt-aging set, along with some cute display items that were fun to look at.

What especially caught my eye was this lucky draw event! You can enter by writing a review, and there's the fun of it being a no-miss draw.

Looking at the prize list, there was everything from dining vouchers to marinated galbi to cute stickers — kids would probably love it too. This kind of small joy might be part of what makes this Yangyang barbecue restaurant so charming. Even just winning a zero-sugar cola would feel good, right?
Side dishes and two servings of charcoal-grilled pork galbi

Once we finished ordering, the side dishes started arriving one by one, all beautifully arranged. There was fresh lettuce, along with pickles and salad that paired perfectly with the meat. The salad was mixed with mayo and ketchup, and I kept reaching for it. I really love restaurants that serve salad alongside grilled meat! Meat plus salad — need I say more?

Personally, I loved that chive salad and fresh wasabi came together. Marinated meat can get cloying fast, but side dishes like these keep the flavor balanced.

Finally, the pork galbi we'd been waiting for arrived! We ordered two servings. It came out well-marinated along with big king oyster mushrooms. Time to get grilling!

I carefully laid the meat onto the hot charcoal. With a sizzle, a sweet aroma spread and hit my nose.

The trick with marinated meat is flipping it often so it doesn't burn, right? The charcoal aroma was slowly seeping deep into the meat.

Once cut into bite-sized pieces, the glossy shine alone was a pass on looks. Taking a bite, it wasn't overly sweet, just the right amount salty, with a tender texture — excellent.
Finishing with mul naengmyeon at Yeoyejeong

It felt incomplete to eat barbecue without naengmyeon, so we ordered mul naengmyeon too. The broth, topped with a slushy layer of ice, cleaned the palate perfectly. Placing a leftover piece of galbi on top and eating it like yukssam naengmyeon — now that's happiness, haha.

We kept the fully cooked pieces on the grill rack so they wouldn't burn, and enjoyed them slowly. The mushrooms were juicy and tasty, just as good as the meat. This Yangyang barbecue restaurant's sweet pork galbi is great to come to with family, and it made for a satisfying meal during our trip. If you're craving sweet ribs, it's worth a stop.
