₩13,900 giant king tonkatsu in Chuncheon Toegye-dong: Jeongseong Katsu
In short
Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Toegye Branch is a tonkatsu restaurant in Toegye-dong, Chuncheon, that moved from a takeout-and-delivery-only shop near Namchuncheon Station into a larger space near the Yoo Seung Hannaedeul apartments. Two sisters ordered the old-style king tonkatsu set at 13,900 won and the fillet katsu set at 12,900 won, and the king tonkatsu was so big they doubted they could finish it — but they did. With curry sauce and free refills at the self-serve side bar, Jeongseong Katsu is an easy recommendation in Toegye-dong.

From a delivery-only shop near Namchuncheon Station to a bigger Toegye-dong restaurant
Jeongseong Katsu, the Toegye-dong tonkatsu place my sister and brother-in-law and I used to order from all the time — it was right near Namchuncheon Station and only did takeout and delivery — has expanded and moved near the Yoo Seunghan Naedeul apartments! I heard they'd opened an actual storefront, so my sister and I ran right over.

Where to park at Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Toegye Branch
You can park right in front of the store, nearby, or in the parking lot of the building behind it, but there were a lot of cars. If you're a super, super beginner driver... parking might not be so easy? But I got it done in one shot, haha.

Inside the restaurant: high chairs and kiosk ordering
The place is soooo clean, right? We came at this in-between hour, like 3 or 4pm, so we had the whole place to ourselves and I got to show you the spotless interior! There are baby chairs too, so it's great to visit with kids — everything was really well set up.

I'd already been to the Hyoja branch several times, so it felt kind of familiar, haha. You order at the kiosk.

Here's the menu ~ I love this restaurant's sweet potato cheese katsu set so much that up until right before I walked in, I was planning to order that. But looking at the menu board... suddenly I got a craving for old-style tonkatsu? So I ordered that instead. My sister only ever gets fillet katsu at Jeongseong Katsu, lol — acting like she's got such refined taste (but honestly, my taste in ordering the king tonkatsu set is more refined, haha).
How big is the 13,900 won old-style king tonkatsu set?
Old-style king tonkatsu set, ₩13,900
Okay this — the size is insane. This was actually the first time I'd ever tried old-style tonkatsu here, since I usually go for the katsu-katsu at Jeongseong Katsu. It's seriously huge. The size is out of control!!!!

That distinctive tangy smell of old-style tonkatsu sauce is so good — but it was so big I genuinely worried I might not finish it (needless worry, haha — I finished it).

But it had this glossy shine to it... which somehow made me feel like I could finish it?

I cut right into it — look at that cross-section, isn't it gorgeous? We were going to split it, but I couldn't resist and took one bite... it's fresh-fried katsu coated in sauce, so it's crispy, and it's old-style, and it's delicious — the kind of flavor that makes you act silly over it.

Free refills of broth, pickles and kimchi at the self-serve bar
The mild broth, pickles, and kimchi served alongside are also really tasty! You can refill them at the self-serve bar.
The 12,900 won fillet katsu set, curry sauce included
Fillet katsu set, ₩12,900

My sister's kind of a weirdo about this. Why? Because... whenever we go to a katsu place, she orders fillet katsu without fail, every single time, lol lol lol.

The juiciness was insane — honestly, seeing all that juice, I think I spent about three seconds thinking, 'ah, I should've ordered this too.'

The side dishes were laid out similarly, and the fillet katsu set also came with curry sauce. Mixing it into the rice on the side is pure bliss... my sister polished off her rice with just the curry sauce!

Salt and wasabi or tonkatsu sauce: which works better?
My sister always eats fillet katsu with the salt-plus-wasabi combo, but I only do that for the first bite — after that, it's tonkatsu sauce for me, no question. Maybe I don't actually love tonkatsu so much as I love that tangy tonkatsu sauce?

A little lemon, then salt plus wasabi... I'm not exaggerating, even piling on that much wasabi doesn't make your nose sting at all. It's just so good, ugh. Honestly, I don't think anyone could dislike this combo.

If you're looking for a good restaurant or a katsu spot in Toegye-dong, Chuncheon, I'll recommend Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Toegye Branch without hesitation ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
