Mild brisket pho and pad thai to share near Ajou Univ: Madam Hao
In short
Madam Hao is a Vietnamese restaurant in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, within walking distance of Ajou University and Ajou University Hospital. Two diners ordered one beef brisket pho and one pad thai to share in a spacious wood-toned room lit by rattan-style lamps: the pho broth was clean and not heavy on spices, while the pad thai noodles were evenly coated in a sweet-salty sauce. Alternating between soup and stir-fried noodles made it an easy lunch combination for two.

Hi there 🥰 I've been craving pho quite often lately. I wanted both hot noodle soup and stir-fried noodles like pad thai, so I went to Madam Hao near Ajou University.
The moment I walked in, the space felt pretty exotic overall! Wood-toned interior mixed with rattan-style lighting and green plants gave it more atmosphere than your average quick-bite pho spot.
It's within walking distance from both Ajou University and Ajou University Hospital, and there's a parking space beside the building too, so it's convenient if you're driving.
🌿 Inside Madam Hao: wood tones, rattan lamps and seating
The place turned out to be much bigger inside than it looked from outside. The tables are spaced out generously, and there's more seating further back, making it good both for a casual meal for two or for a bigger group.
There were little Vietnamese-style props and lighting fixtures too, giving the whole place a warm, comfortable feel. If you're looking for lunch near Ajou University but don't want anywhere too plain, this could be a solid choice.

🍽️ Ordering beef brisket pho and pad thai for two
Looking at the menu, there were many kinds of pho as well as bun cha (grilled pork with rice noodles), stir-fried noodles, and rice bowls, so it took a while to decide. We picked what felt like the most familiar, sure-bet options.
Beef brisket pho and pad thai! One noodle soup plus one stir-fried noodle dish is the perfect combo for two people to share.

🍜 Beef brisket pho: a broth that isn't heavy on spices
We started with the beef brisket pho. It came in a big bowl with a generous amount of rice noodles and slices of brisket on top, looking pretty hearty just from the sight of it.
The broth wasn't too sharp or heavy on spices, so it was easy to eat without any hesitation. It was clean but still had that distinct savory depth from the meat stock, and I kept going back for more.
The noodles were soft and easy to eat, and paired with the brisket it definitely felt more filling than plain noodles alone. If you like pho but find strong spices a bit much, this is a comfortable style to go for. For anyone hunting a solid pho spot near Ajou University, this seems like the safest, most reliable order.

🍳 The pad thai we were glad we added
And personally, I was looking forward to the pad thai just as much as the pho! The noodles came well stir-fried with the sauce soaked in, and one bite in, that classic sweet-and-salty pad thai flavor hit right away. The noodles weren't overcooked either — they kept a nicely chewy texture.
If the pho is clean and light, the pad thai is richer and more savory, so alternating between the two worked really well. One bite of pho broth, one bite of pad thai, haha. If we'd only ordered one, I think we would've regretted it a little.
The pad thai in particular had the sauce coating the noodles evenly all the way through, so the flavor stayed consistent to the last bite.

😋 Why pho and pad thai work as a combo for two
Beef brisket pho and pad thai head in different flavor directions, so ordering them together was even more satisfying. Pho when you're craving something hot and clean, pad thai when you want something richer and stir-fried!
If you're visiting as a pair, I'd recommend each ordering one dish and sharing. The portions were plenty for a full meal, and with so many menu items, I want to come back and try other pho varieties or bun cha next time. Beyond pho, they actually have a whole range of Vietnamese dishes and side menus.

The beef brisket pho I had was hot and easy to eat without feeling heavy, and the pad thai's sweet-salty sauce with chewy noodles was great. Ordering both together, so I could alternate between broth and stir-fried noodles, felt like a smart choice!
