The Daebang DMC underground parking lot is quite spacious, so parking was easy. That said, the elevators going up to the retail shops and to the residential units are separate, which could be a bit confusing on your first visit. I had to find the elevator connecting to the shops to get up to the 2nd floor — but if you know this ahead of time, it's not hard to figure out.

After I arrived with my reservation, I was shown to a waiting seat, and after a short wait, Assistant Director Suyeon, who'd be handling my hair, came over.

The salon was spacious with an upscale feel, and with the floor-to-ceiling windows, it also had a comfortable, café-like atmosphere.

I used the restroom too, and it was kept clean.

My hair was already light brown, and with all the root touch-ups, the color overall had gotten really bright. I told Assistant Director Suyeon I wanted to tone it down to a moderate brown, not too dark.

But she told me that if she matched the exact brown I wanted right away, it would likely fade back close to my original bright color after about 1-2 weeks. So we decided to go a bit darker than what I actually wanted at first, letting it naturally fade over time into the tone I was after. I hadn't thought about this angle when researching hair color at Jeonju innovation-city salons, but once I heard the explanation, it made sense why they start with a deeper color.

About 30 minutes of processing after the color goes on

After the consultation, the tone-down color started. While applying the dye, she was careful not to get any on my scalp or facial skin, and after the application was done, I waited about 30 minutes.

In the meantime, she brought me an iced americano and a snack. What I secretly liked was that the coffee cup had a lid! At hair salons, hair can fly around, so when you get a drink without a lid, you often end up not touching it later. After about 30 minutes, she checked the color and I moved to the shampoo room.

During the shampoo, she gave me a thorough scalp massage, which felt great. After a careful treatment, she dried my hair and I finally got to see the finished color. After sitting so long for the service, that scalp massage during the shampoo really stuck with me.

The finished color: darker brown after 10 light years

Looking at the finished hair, my once-bright hair had turned into a much calmer brown. I'd kept light brown hair for almost 10 years, so toning it down after so long definitely gave off a different vibe. I was told that once the color naturally fades over the next 1-2 weeks, it'll get even closer to the brown tone I originally wanted, and I'm looking forward to watching that process too.

Still, since I'd been told from the start of the consultation that the color would fade closer to what I wanted after 1-2 weeks, I felt fine about it.
