Jeonju café with rooftop seats, good for reading alone: Caundry
In short
Caundry is a café in a converted house in Inhu-dong, Jeonju, a short trip from Jeonbuk National University Hospital and Jeonju Station. Over coffee after lunch with a friend, the lighting, small objects and rooftop tables the owner designed herself were fun to look around slowly. Caundry is quiet enough that reading a book alone never feels awkward.

After lunch with a friend, we didn't want to just say goodbye, so I looked up somewhere to grab coffee — that's how I ended up at Caundry.
I'd heard there was a cozy, atmospheric café near Jeonbuk National University Hospital made from a converted house in Inhu-dong, so I went to check it out, curious.
Big, flashy cafés are great these days, but sometimes a quiet, comfortable place pulls at you more. Caundry had exactly that feeling.

It's easy to stop by after lunch near Jeonbuk National University Hospital, and it's not far from Jeonju Station either, so anyone searching for a café near Jeonbuk Hospital or Jeonju Station cafés might want to keep this one in mind.
A small café inside a converted house
When I first saw Caundry, the vibe was clearly different from your typical big café.

Maybe because it's a converted house, it felt like visiting someone's beautifully decorated home — comfortable, and there was a lot to look at everywhere.

From the little props to the lighting and furniture, everything seemed carefully thought out.
There was a modern sensibility mixed naturally with something a bit old-fashioned, and I really liked that feeling. It didn't feel like a copy of whatever's trending in interiors right now — Caundry had its own character.
Talking with the owner, I could feel the love and pride behind the café's interior. In the visit materials it mentioned that the owner directly designed and made the lighting and props inside the shop.

Maybe that's why it was so fun to slowly look around every corner of the space.
Is Caundry comfortable for reading alone?
There was one scene from my visit that especially stuck with me.

A customer was sitting alone with a drink on the table, quietly reading a book. Watching that, I immediately thought, 'this would be a great place to come alone.'
Some cafés are so crowded and loud with music that it's hard to feel comfortable sitting for long.

Caundry, on the other hand, had the kind of atmosphere that's good for slowly sipping coffee while reading or gathering your thoughts.
It's fine for chatting with a friend, but it would also work well if you want to spend time alone. For anyone near Jeonbuk Hospital looking for a slightly quieter, more comfortable café, this could be a good match.
Caundry's handmade cookies and baked treats
And Caundry isn't just a coffee stop — the desserts are worth a look too.

The owner recommended a few desserts and mentioned that many people buy them as gifts.

The materials also featured handmade cookies and baked treats the owner makes personally, so if you love dessert, it's worth picking a few to go with your coffee. They're also nicely packaged, so they'd make a good light gift.
Plenty of people these days look for good food near Jeonbuk National University and then head to a nearby café afterward for lunch or dinner.

If you're eating near Jeonbuk Hospital or Inhu-dong, it could make a nice one-two combo to finish with a café stop here.

If you order delivery, it might be worth checking whether Caundry's menu shows up when you're browsing nearby dessert options.
What the rooftop seating at Caundry is like
I thought that was it once I'd seen the interior, but there were also tables up on the rooftop.

I visited during the day, but looking at the rooftop space made me curious what it's like in the evening once the sun sets and the lights come on.

On a cool day, sitting up on the rooftop with a coffee would probably give a whole different mood.

During the day it has a quiet café feel, and in the evening it could be enjoyed with a slightly livelier mood — a space with two sides to it.
Why Caundry feels easy rather than flashy
I ended up here by chance after lunch with a friend, and this Inhu-dong café stuck with me more than I expected.

It's not a huge, flashy café, but the cozy space made from a converted house came together nicely with pretty props and distinctive interior touches. What I liked most of all was the comfortable atmosphere.

A place good for chatting with a friend, and just as comfortable for sitting alone with a coffee and a book. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for exactly that kind of café.

If you're looking for a café near Jeonbuk Hospital, or a quiet, characterful spot among Jeonju Station cafés or Inhu-dong cafés, give Caundry a try.
Next time I'd like to visit a bit later in the day and experience Caundry's evening mood, which should feel quite different from daytime :)
A place to come to someday, quietly, book in hand~! Give Caundry a visit~
